The Majority of the City gathered by the wall as the fleet the had sent to reconnect with the southern tribe was to return soon and the city wanted to greet their heroes. Little kids ran and played while their mothers stood with the younger ones and gossiped. Some younger females chatted. Several Fishermen were going in and out of the huge Ice Gate.
Suddenly the lookout shouted out that the fleet was approaching. Many ran to the walls expecting to see a triumphant fleet returning to the city, Wife's hoped to see their husbands. They expected an ambassador from their Sister Tribe. Instead they saw a couple of battered boats with skeleton crews. Kinsuna stood in the captured ships crows nest. The Galleon dwarfed the small water tribe ships but it was nearly useless in battle. Their Leader, Himura, decided it would be nice to return in a fancy captured ship. Hakoda, The Chieftain, stood over the Ice gate. His eyes wide with shock. Kinsuna thought back to the beginning of his voyage. The Cheering goodbye with his mother crying and his sister shedding tears and looking away. 4 Years ago was this. He was a different man. Tired of war at such an early age he just wanted a life of peace. He'd gotten his battle scars, no, his honor. Yeah... his honor. He felt the scar across his nose. The tribe calls it the birth of the warrior, the first scar you receive in battle.
Solemn smiles crowded the numerous faces as some families began to weep for those Departed... those dearly departed, and as children played.

The crackle of snow under the elder man's footsteps was something he heard to the point of never reconizing it. It was common and familar as the faces of his five brothers. The laughter of his daughter and wife and the call of gulls at the port.
Shona's finishing rig the The Great Cresent sailed into the docks one afternoon. Shona wasn't on board, but his two older brothers Chulyin and Ikaiq were. They and the crew man waves as one of the waterbenders Maulki used water whips to drag the ship into the wharf. The crew worked hard on getting the fish iced and the buffaloyaks ready to pull the sledges to market. Ikaiq greeted his younger brother with an embrace as soon as Shona dismounted off of Sitqa.
"Did you see the ships they just brought in?" Shona nodded pulling back his hood. "Yeah, doesn't bother me much I just hope someone responds to my notices of an apprentice." Ikaiq notice the tone in Shona's voice was bitter. "Fought with Kavik didn't ya?" Shona didn't respond to him. As he helped with this other brothers with the catch. He did fight with Kavik, but that wasn't the reason he was looking for an apprentice.

Kinsuna headed for the docks after the welcoming committee dispersed. His good friend Kaiden had told him that a man named Shona was looking for an apprentice. Kinsuna needed a job right away. Kinsuna approached a dock worker asked where Shona was. The Worked pointed at a man unloading fish from the ship with what appeared to be his brothers... with their slight resemblance of Shona.
"I heard you are in need of an apprentice." Kinsuna said as he approached Shona. Kinsuna had seen Shona once or twice in his youth but never talked to him.

Sitqa chomped on the bit and and snorted as a new scent found his nose. Ikaiq and Shona turned to see what got the buffaloyak's attention.
Shona took a good look of the young man, he was older than Kavik and a lot more sea-worn. He was also interested in apprenticing for Shona. Ikaiq noticed that most of the catch was taken off and pulled on the sledges. "I'm gonna find Luk and Ke, you can take care of this one Sho." Ikaiq walked down the docks to the ship and sledges Shona began intervieing the young man
"Yep, the big arctic herring season is coming I need more hands, my son and daughter have been busy with bending pratice so I am looking for someone that could take up their extra work loads." Shona turned down a pier to another ship that was getting loaded up. Arrluk who was much older than Shona was waiting for him with Shona's nephews. Shona asked him a few questions. "First can ya tell me about yourself? What are you interested in? Have you fished before? Are you bender?" Shona climbed up to the rig to be greeted by his nephew Ninipok,

Shona talked about why he needed Kinsuna to work with him. His children were too busy learning how to bend. Shona then proceeded to ask Kinsuna questions.
"Well I'm Kinsuna, I just arrived from the Southern Expedition that was sent out 4 years ago. I've seen stuff I'd like to forget in the War and I know that the sea is probably the best thing to comfort me. I have fished before and that is what I'm interested in doing at the moment," Kinsuna said in reply to the first three questions, "I am not a bender. I wish I could have been in order to be more of a help to my fellow warriors in the war but no." Kinsuna said in relpy looking around him. Shona's brothers and apparently from what he heard and observed, his nephews were running about on the docks.

"Ahhh the sea is my home, I understand how that can comfort you." He shook Kitsuna's hand as he started to undo the ropes on the wharf. "We'll be heading out on Arrluk's boat the The Orca later today, I just want to you get a quick run-down of how the ship works. You can come with us if you want, but when I am finished I can get you back at wharf. " Shona said leaning on the post and showed Kitsuna around the ship.
He was grateful for an older boy, and with loads of sea experaince. He would be useful on deck. "First, You can call me sir or Shona, same with Arrluk and his boys. Kavik will be joining us on Wendsdays. Do you have any questions Kitsuna?"

"No... No... please continue." Kinsuna said as he watched Shona point at different points on the ship. It was a sturdy vessel... Kinsuna could tell. He just hoped they wouldn't run into a storm heading back and have to test that. Kinsuna saw everything on the boat. His tanned muscular arms were kept warm in his bulky fur coat.
(So what kind of fishing are we talking about here. I'm guessing nets and whatnot)

Shona pointed to few of the trolleys and pullies. "We mostly cast out around morning then pull in around noon, cast again around early afternoon and pull in around evening. Waterbenders can freeze our catch making them nice and fresh for the market. I would ask of you get a wetsuit. It get chilly out and you might be reparing nets at sea" Shona shows him his own seal skin suit and continues walking.
"Well be taking off early afternoon, we just got our noon catch in, We take breaks on weekends and on new moons when the tide is wonky Think you can handle this?" Shona aske finally before walking off the ship and heading to his buffaloyak Sitqa.

"Yes yes... just like fishing with my cousins in my youth." Kinsuna said. He had a suit like Shona's he could use to keep war. Kinsuna said following Shona of the ship. He might as well go to his parent's house. And greet them formally.

Shona headed back on the boat. He noted that the boy would need training but he seemed experiance, he hope he didn't waste his time investing on this young man.
As the sunset Shona was exausted from a day of fishing more laboring taking the fish down from the pier and to the markets all that Shona wanted was a hot meal, a hot bath and his family. Saddling on Sitqa he headed home to his house with a pair of antlers coming from the lentals. Nezumi his wife greeted him and Kokomi took Sitqa to the barn with his half-brother Denali who belonged to Kavik. Speaking of which... "Have you seen Kav-cub?" Asked Shona smelling a chowder of clam and crab. Nezumi stirred the pot. "Not since this morning." Shona frowned and realized he might with...Hoji Sighing he shook his head. "We got a new apprentice for the fishing crew." He said getting down to supper. Kokomi got herself a bowl as she walked in. "Kavik is waterbending late today Papa, he will return later." Shona knew what kind of bending his son was up to, and it wasn't waterbending.
Kavik came to the house way after midnight. Shona was awake but curled up with his wife waiting. As soon as dawn arrived Shona got up to get ready for work. And it was Wensday. "Kavik you're working mornings with me." Kavik groaned into his poriagge. Sixteen and looking like a younger version of his father. The young man got up to get his boots and wetsuit. He had sing silver ear piercing and long braid on his right side over his ear. He followed his father to the docks riding Denali
Shona waited for Kitsuna as he loaded up The Great Cresent Shona told Kavik about the apprentice. "You are going to help him the most since I need to steer, Ninipok and Kesuk are going to be with us, so you have some bending backup, but Kavik. If yo-" Cutting him off his obsinant son replied. "I won't embarrsse you."

Kinsuna arrived at his parents house in about an hour. His father and mother greeted him with a hug and laughing celebrations. After a couple war stories and showing off his prizes they went to bed after a night of celebration of their sons safe return. His little sister, however.... remained distant. She didn't talk to him the whole time. Kinsuna was worried but he got up early to get ready. He'd deal with her another day. He felt more warm than before with the special suit on. He made it to the docks and say Shona and his ship. He smiled and climbed to the boat as Shona was addressing what appeared to be his son.
"Good Morrow!" Kinsuna said as he boarded the ship, "I am ready"

Shona waved to Kitsuna, "Good Marrow to you as well, lets get to work. Oh by the way, this is my son, Kavik, he'll be showing you the ropes as we're out on sea. He's a good lad so listen to him." Kavik had to smirk at that. He will show the greenhorn who is who. Shona called the crew to bend out to sea, Kavik got on the edge of the prow and started pushing out with Ninipok and Kesuk.
As they reached out into the sea the crew which was mostly Mauki, a young boy named Mako, Kesuk and of course Kavik. Shona steered the boat as ment started to unravel nets. Kavik walked over to Kitsuna. "Go by Kesuk and Mako and start checking the nets for holes." Ordered Kavik as he tied up his long hair. "You better not slack off either!"

Kinsuna gave Kavik a menacing look, but quickly went to work with the other two scanning for holes in the net. Kavik seemed a little more girly than who he was used to taking orders from. Kinsuna saw that the nets were in good repair and would provide a good catch.
"All the nets are good!" Kinsuna shouted after 30 minutes or so of double checking.
Kinsuna looked out to see and inhaled the sea air. Cleared his lungs nice and smelled wonderful. He loved the peaceful sea of his home.

Kavik took the nets and started flinging the weighed ends out to sea. With the help of his uncle and cousin, they waterbended the waves to carry the nets farther out. After casting the nets behind, Shona trowled slowly dragging the nets with him to catch the fish and swam in schools below.
After most of the hard work was set, the fishermen just waited. Mako who was the youngest only fifteen. Hanged out with Kavik talking about many things including the war, home and well girls. Though Kavik wasn't too interested in the latter topic. Kesuk and Mauki watched the nets and then Kesuk switched with Shona and took control of the ship. The older man watched the ballooning of the nets being dragged behind the back of the ship. Wind fluttered his cloth wrapped lock as he stood at the back. He looked at Kitsuna, "So...you mentioned yesterday you have seen much of the war, I haven't heard much since the Cheif tried to keep most of the ports close to foreign trade."

Kinsuna went silent. After working up the courage he recalled a brief summary of what had transpired.
"The Fire Nation attacked the Earth Kingdom quickly, seizing much of the land, and wiping out the Airbenders from existence. They conducted raids on our sister tribe destroying it to a single village. There isn't much to say other than its a losing war. The Fire Nation excels in their Iron Clad Ships on the ocean. They imprison benders and treat them like animals for their talents. In short its terrible" Kinsuna said looking into the ocean once more.
