Hearing the edge to Ignis voice, Katara lifted her head sharply. She could tell that her words had somehow hit a sore point with the fire bender. She blinked a few times ..stunned when he told her where the men who’d killed his parents were being held. “You’re holding them in the sewer?” she asked incredulously. “Who..who is the one who will think he has a chance at surviving? Why did you single him out?”
Then Ignis confused her even more by taking her hand in his and promising to protect her and Sokka . She stared at his face and then down at their joined hands. The water bender winced when he told her that he would not protect Aang. That he was already committing treason by not attacking her. It was strange but the lines between good and evil had blurred since she left the her homeland with Sokka and Aang. She saw such kindness in Ig but also the most frightening rage. By the same account, wasn’t she also a traitor for not capturing him?
All Katara was certain of was that she didn’t want this young man before her to loose his temper and hurt any more innocent people in his quest for revenge. “Why don’t I come with you..to see these men you’ve captured? Maybe I can…” The water bender got no further for a flat dull sounding voice soon interrupted the couple by intejecting,” Of course, your girlfriend goes missing for like what, a week, and you go off and hold other girls hands. How touching." Mai joked while leaning up against a tree.
Instantly, Katara jerked back from Ignis and stared at the very different looking young woman whom she’d help evade capture from the earth nation soldiers. ‘Guess that adds to my list of traitorous things I’ve done during this madness.’ she thought while jumping to her feet to take in Mai’s new green dress and shortened hair. "I’m ..ah..glad you’re okay Mai. Really. “ Giving Ignis an uncomfortable glance, she went on her hands moving along to try reinforce her stance. “Ignis wasn’t holding my hand…I mean he was but..he wasn’t holding holding my hand..like that…” A small frustrated squeak came out and she stomped her foot, “Tell her Ignis!!"

“You’re holding them in the sewer?” Katara asked Ignis. "Yes a sewer." Ignis replied. To him a sewer seemed like the perfect place. It was dark, cut off and abandoned. A bit sickly and disgusting for Ignis' taste but it would have to do for now. “Who..who is the one who will think he has a chance at surviving? Why did you single him out?” Katara asked naively. Ignis thought it was obvious. "The colonel who killed my father in front of me...and terrorised me, my sister and my mother before we became cut off." Ignis said.
“Why don’t I come with you..to see these men you’ve captured? Maybe I can… Katara said. At first Ignis was reluctent at accepting her offer. Although she could be of use capturing the other two mabye. Ignis was about to give a reply but then a familiar voice shook him. ” Of course, your girlfriend goes missing for like what, a week, and you go off and hold other girls hands. How touching." Mai joked while leaning up against a tree.
Ignis immediatly took his hands away from Katara, at the sound of Mai's voice. Ignis was embarressed and blushed. Ignis ignored Katara's embaressed squeals. He took a deep breath and got up and walked to Mai hands behind his back, very nervous. "Mai it honestly isn't what you think." Ignis said, hesisating to touch her. "Katara offered to help me find the men responsible for killing my parents...I know you've helped and I still care about you and I hope we're still together but...What Katara offered...was really important to me." Ignis said to Mai trying to get her to understand that he was still with Mai and not in love with Katara.

At their reactions, a though accrued to her mind, and only one.
I've got to get better at this whole tone thing.
"I’m ..ah..glad you’re okay Mai. Really. “ Giving Ignis an uncomfortable glance, she went on her hands moving along to try reinforce her stance. “Ignis wasn’t holding my hand…I mean he was but..he wasn’t holding holding my hand..like that…” A small frustrated squeak came out and she stomped her foot, “Tell her Ignis!!" "You know, it's not very convincing when you squeak and have that kind of glint in your eyes." Mai shrugged against the tree, their reactions sort of disappointing her in a way.
"Katara offered to help me find the men responsible for killing my parents...I know you've helped and I still care about you and I hope we're still together but...What Katara offered...was really important to me." "I'm not mad anyway. Well, I wasn't, but the way you two are acting is coming off as a bit guilty to me." Mai told them, coming out of the shadows and into the more open area, the light reflecting off some of the fabric on the dress and her gray eyes.
"The man who killed your parents?" Mai asked, changing the subject. Her brow furrowed slightly as she thought about it. Well, they were in the Earth Kingdom, and the man was Earth Kingdom, so they may as well take advantage off the current place they were located. "Have you found out anything more about him? If you need anything from the Earth Kingdom, I think I can blend in pretty easily." Mai gestured vaguely to her current attire and new hair.
They did look guilty to her. It didn't make her happy; but then again, barely anything actually did make her happy. But it still made her suspicious. Then again, it was sort of natural to act afraid when you're likely going to piss off the girl you could cut you to ribbons without a second thought, though Mai usually didn't do that - just pin them to something so well that they couldn't break free.

Kichiro stepped gently from rock to rock, the slippery surface under his feet making his stomach twinge. The rushing gray water rushed beneath him, and he could not help but feel nervous as his stomach dropped when he saw it. The huge gap.
"Oh, come on!" Kichiro groaned, smacking his forehead. He had tried to keep from destroying the forest when he was traveling through. Just because he was a Earth Bender, and yes, he should of taken advantage of it by being surrounded by Earth, didn't mean he liked to Earth bend. Yes, it was useful in battle and it was fun to have little tournaments with his friends and sibilings - but not when it was going to disrupt the Earth arround him from living. The world didn't just belong to benders and non benders - it belonged to the plants and animals, too.
Kichiro braced himself, leaning down slightly, and with a huge burst of energy and a large gush of air whooshing out his lungs, he tried to clear the gap - and with mhis arms flailing wildly, he tried to grasp a thin branch with his right hand, doing nothing but poking his hand and making it bleed as the current swept me down river. Kichiro spotted the end of the river soon, and thought nothing of it until he saw it didn't really end. More so, end up in a waterfall with large pointy rocks at the bottom from what he could tell.
Kichiro panicked.
Randomly swinging his arms about, he searched for something, heck, anything that may stop him from becoming... well... dead. He finally caught something, and held on with all his strength pulling it towards him and then launching himself to the nearest shore. He hit the ground harshly, the air knocked out of his lungs, his eyes closing slightly. Once he managed to muster up some more strength, he looked up and saw the thing that saved me was a little tree, now leaning into the water from where he almost tore it out of the ground.
After quickly trying to set the tree back in place, feeling a bit stupid for doing so, Kichiro muttered a fast 'sorry tree' and span off in the direction he was headed before he fell into the river that had totally ruined his morning. Kichiro stumbled back into the trees, jumping over a few logs and after traveling about two miles, his mind started to drift. He thought back, halfway reluctantly, back to the morning three days ago.
He had stretched awake slowly. He groaned quietly, knowing that it was the third Wednesday of the month. As known as, the day where his mother would force him into all of the new clothes, saw they weren't good enough, poke him with a whole bunch of pins, saw there still weren't good enough, gvie the clothes to him, make another new set and force him to wear those, and say 'Perfect! Oh, perfect! Amazing!' and continue to mutter to herself how wonderful the design was and how tall Kichiro was getting. He had been forced to do this so many times that he knew everything she would do, when she would do it.
No man should ever be subjected to such torture.
When he finally arose, he was yawning widely and rubbing his eyes sleepily, sratchting his bare chest, walking sluggishly to the mirror. He squinted slightly at first, getting used to the light and finally saw my reflection. Kichiros dark hair was ruffled, falling in my eyes like it did whenever he just woke up, his green eyes lacked their usual shine showing his lack of lseep, and he was slouching. Good enough, He thought to myself, turning to his door. He grinned when he saw the little pile of green boxes. Everybody remembered my birthday! Today must be great. My sixteenth birthday, and it's going to be the best birthday of all now I've met Hana.
Kichiro picked up the boxes, wondering slightly if one of them was from Hana. He opened the first, a new design of moms. Kichiro was surprised. He actually liked it. Odd. He opened the next ones slowly, finding a small hunters knife. He looked at it closely, and saw a million little precious emeralds and silver metal twisting around the bottom of the knife, a small inscription printed lightly on the metal, carved gently. His eyes just about doubled in size when he handled the knife, cutting through the air a few times. After a few moments, he set the knife down gingerly in the small box, reluctantly clasping the lip on it gently and turning to the next. And the next. And then the next.
When Kichiro was finally finished, he looked at all my gifts. Outfit from mom, Knife from Ferita (neighbor), a portrait of me from his little sister, a little bear carved out of wood from his little brother, and various types of cards from his grandparents on his fathers side and his other various family and a few of his teachers, that didn't hate him anyway. It was the best day ever, that is, until he moved to the windowsill and saw it.
Hanas note.
He knew very well what had happened, just by reading the first few words. She had left to find her friends and family and get back to her old life. Well... Kichiro didn't get to say goodbye. Or even get a chance to get to know her. The real her. Finally get to know if... she loved him too. And with packing a few supplies, that's where his journey to find the lovely Hana began.
It had been a few days now, and somehow, this day felt good, despite the whole stream thing. Kichiro jumped over a few more logs and hiked through the trees, finally stopping to catch his breath. Then he heard them. Voices. Of... two women and a male. Kichiro walked closer and picked Hanas voice among the rest and walked right into the clearing. He looked to Hana to see her holding a startled bird expression, then looking over to the two others. Kichiros eyes pulled together.
"Who are you two?"

The air that Katara had been holding slowly hissed out in relief when Mai said she wasn’t angry. Ignis’ holding her hand had been innocent and only for comfort…nothing more. She remained silent as the fire bender rose to his feet and spoke caringly to Mai. A small smile came to Katara’s lips when she spoke of blending in with the earth benders. There was no doubt that in her present attire, she most certainly looked like one of the earth nation villagers. ‘I wonder where she got the clothing from…and her hair…hmmmm.’ The brunette contemplated her eyes shifting back and forth between the two. “Actually, Mai does look like one of the villagers. Green suits you.” she added with a small grin. It was the sound of cunching twigs that had the young girl spinning about to find a handsome young boy, nearly her age, come into view.
She could tell by the look on his face that he was somewhat confused but it was his words that bewildered Katara. He hadn’t asked about who they all wer. No..no he'd stated the ‘two’ of them. It didn’t take long for the water bender to realize that he knew Mai for his eyes focused on her and Ignis as she spoke. ‘SO…this is how the knife thrower has learned to ‘blend’ in so well…’
Keeping her distance, she cut a look to Mai and Ignis as they stood close together before meeting the newcomer's intense stare. ‘This could be interesting…or dangerous knowing Ignis’ temper. I just hope this doesn’t end in fighting!’ “Hello. Um…I’m Katara. “ she offered in a neutral tone. “And you are?”

Ignis was relieved, as he could see, so was Katara. Ignis wondered though were Mai got her new dress and makeover from. Ignis attempted to work out the possible awnsers. Then he heard the voice of a boy, roughly his age. Ignis eyed the newcomer back and took a step foward. Ignis took his glance of him and moved to the nearest tree to Kichiro. Ignis proceded to lean against it and take a bite out of a fallen apple.
Ignis gave a quick and quiet lick of his lips, while watching him. Ignis pointed a finger at him, while holding the apple, and said "I think the real question is: Who are you.". Ignis took another bite then carelessly tossed the apple away. It then hit Ignis: This guy obviously knew Mai, gave her the clothes and makeover, Mai left and now he was tracking her. If this guy tried to move in on Ignis' girl...well you get the idea. Another conclusion then hit Ignis. With this guy being presumably Earth Kingdom, he could jeapordise the entire plot to capture his parent's killers. Tom eyes widened and he step back horrified from him. All of this would go to waste and Ignis would die with the knowledge that he failed his parents. Ignis wouldn't allow it and would kill this fool if he tried to intervene or steal Mai. Ignis slipped out his Shirishu Venom Tranquilizer. While shrouded from Mai and Kichiro, it was in Katara's direct view of eyesight.

"I'm Kichiro." Kichiro told them, looking puzzled. He looked to Hana, who did nothing. He looked back. "From Omashu. I was just wondering if my friend was okay." Kichiro shrugged. He looked closely at the boy and the girl. The girl seemed to be Water Tribe. What was she doing in the Earth Kingdom? Shouldn't she be back with her family? Kichiro wondered to himself. The boy however... well, first off, he didn't look exactly happy with Kichiros presence. He looked suspicious, and Kichiro gave him a slightly puzzled look as he took a step back.
"Oh, sorry, I mean no harm, really." Kichiro held up his hands to show he was not trying to be hostile. He examined the boy a little mroe closely, and then it came to him. The boy was fire nation. The clothes, the eyes, the stance, yes! Fire Nation! The same Nation that killed his grandparents and almost killed his mother and his whole village. Kichiro held himself back from attacking the boy right then and there.
"But if you do, I'm warning you, I'll fight back." Kichiro told him, his muscles tensing.
