His excitement couldn't even be put into words as he ran up the slope to his once home. The Southern Air Temple. Katara had told him that he'd been frozen for a hundred years, and that no one had seen an airbender in that large amount of time, but he wouldn't believe it. Even if it was true... he had to see it for himself.
Small patches of snow could be seen in scattered out places of the temple grounds. "This is the Southern Air Temple!" he said to them excitedly as they reached the top of the pathway and faced the temple itself.
A feeling of shock suddenly hit him. Was she right? Had the firebenders gotten to the temple? There was no one, the whole place was completely empty. No sky bisons, no lemurs, not even an Air Temple snail could be seen. It was so quiet, a lot had happened in those hundred years.
Aang looked around and a statue of his favorite teacher caught his eye. He ran over to it and pointed at it. "Hey! This is monk Gyatsu. He taught me everything!" he grinned at the sight of an old face. Even if it was just a statue.

"Hey! This is monk Gyatsu. He taught me everything!"
“Wow and he looks like a uhhh nice guy” Sokka stumbled with words a bit not knowing what to say. While Aang was running around having fun Katara and Sokka found some fire nation uniforms, and it was clear the fire nation had destroyed his home. However Aang did not want to accept it.
I have to choose my words carefully and try to get his mind off this statue and his friends.
Sokka looks around untill he see’s a lot of poles sticking out of the ground and almost like a goal on each side, Sokka assumed it was some sort of game. “Hey Aang whats that.” As he poited towards the game. “Want me to show you the special Sokka way to play and WIN airball!” Sokka turns to Aang grinning. Well I hope he likes this game enough to take his mind off of all of this.

“Wow and he looks like a uhhh nice guy”
"You're right, Sokka, he was," the boy said happily. He put his hands together and bowed to the statue.
“Hey Aang whats that.”
He turned away from the monk and looked back at his friends. Walking closer to Sokka, he looked at where he was pointing. "That's airball, we used to play it all the time!" he looked at the rows of poles and he was once again excited. He had always beaten the other air benders when they played that game.
“Want me to show you the special Sokka way to play and WIN airball!”
The airbender laughed, "You're on." He immediately ran right over to the airball field, jumping up ontop of one of the poles that was by the goal. "And you stand over there!" he called out to Sokka while he pointed at the pole in front of the opposite goal.

Sokka grunts in an argumentative tone “Couldn’t they make a ladder or something for outsiders jerkity jerk jerks blah” Sokka finishes climbing to the top of the pillar and gets into a stance. “Ok I am ready, tell yah what I’ll give you the first .. Uhhh Kick?” Sokka gets ready almost slipping off the pole while doing so. His face turns to an awkward frown as he realizes this is going to hurt. “Give it your best shot!” He says partially closing his eyes

It wasn't much of a ball until the airbender used his bending to make a sphere of air on the inside. He rotated it around, making the ball float around himself as he watched Sokka's movements. He concentrated on the teenager's position, it was obvious that he didn't know what he was doing... but who could blame him? He was an outsider afterall and this was a game specifically for airbenders. He doubted a non-bender like Sokka could play it.
Aang jumped slightly into the air and kicked at the ball. As he kicked, he created a gust of wind from his foot to make it go even faster. The airball bounced off of the sides of many poles as it headed towards his friend. He smiled happily as he watched the ball fly towards the warrior.

Sokka sat there waiting. I’ll be ready for him I don’t care what he does if I have to I’ll use my boomerang. He smiles as he sees Aang playing with the ball. Sokka all of a sudden feels a hard hit to his stomach that sends him flying off of the plat form. Sokka lands directly on his head wondering what happened as he looks up to see the ball go through his goal. “Hey! No fair you took advantage of a situation. A bird or something flew into me and knocked me off! You must have been real good at this game cheater.” Sokka grumbles to himself as he picks himself back up cleans off and picks up the ball. “Now its my turn” Sokka Smiles as he starts to climb back up the pole.

Naje awoke as she heard noises coming from in the temple. A pang of fear hit her stomach as she recalled the rumors of ghosts.
Mosts of the things in the temple were useless, apparently airbenders had little use for gold trinkets. In hindsight, she should have figured the fire nation would have looted anything of value long ago.
Her eyes scanned to her broken mountain climbing equipment. There was no way that they were getting down without jumping. Long ago, they said that the southern air temple was impossible to reach. That was before, when it was guarded against armies rather than a single person or two. The mountain had long since shifted, granting access to two desperate, now dissapointed treasure hunters.
Their equipment was damaged in the process, and instead of worrying about getting down or die trying, she opted to take a well deserved rest instead. Sela had seemed to agree. currently he was gently snoring next to her with his wide-brimmed hat pulled over his face, oblivious to the noises coming from the temple.
Naje quietly moved to see what the commotion was. She did her best to ignore her rumbling stomach or deep sense of fear.
What she saw was a water nation boy playing with...'Impossible...an airbender?' she thought to herself. It must have been ghosts.

Sela had been awake for a few hours now, plans of leaving the mountain were running through his head. Rather than worry his dim companion about their very slim chance of making it down the mountain in one piece, he pretended to fall asleep in a state of serenity.
He had wished to look around the temple some more to find a means of leaving, but it was difficult because Naje was a light sleeper. Just when he was sure she was asleep, noises came from inside the temple. He pretended to sleep as Naje made her way into the temple. Once he was sure she was focused on the task at hand, he quietly followed her.
He too witnessed the same sight as the theif before him. Were they indeed ghosts? He had never seen one before, so he wasn't sure. Was there a colony of airbenders that survived the slaughter to live in solitude? That seemed equally as likely. Either way, it seemed as though their trip was not a total loss. A tale of a ghostly airbender would surely draw a crowd at their next performance. Maybe an interpretive acrobatic act to accompany it as well.

“Hey! No fair you took advantage of a situation. A bird or something flew into me and knocked me off! You must have been real good at this game cheater.”
"Sokkaaaa, that was the ball," Aang raised an eyebrow at the warrior as he climbed back onto the pole.
He looked around, wondering what Katara was up to while he and his new water tribe friend were busy playing his favorite game. The airbender hoped that she wasn't annoyed because she didn't get to play, but, Sokka had said it first and she was being awfully quiet.
"Uhhh alright," he chuckled. He was curious as to how Sokka was gonna pull this one off. But he waited patiently, letting the teenager attempt to shoot the ball at him... or something.
...Or maybe he wasn't waiting so patiently. He started to whistle in annoyance as he waited for Sokka to shoot the ball at him. "C'mon slowpoke!" the airbender taunted.

“Hey relax I am getting there! Well here we GO!” Sokka kicks the ball towards the general area Aang is in. The ball flies off towards the right side of the goal not quite making it to Aang.
Sokka’s arms go limp as his jaw falls. “Did you use air bending he muttered in disbelief. You did that didn’t you?” Sokka said quietly in a very monotone. He doesn’t seem like he is really in disbelief just kind of upset and not expecting it.
“OK your turn I guess. Well this is my strong suit DEFENCE just try and get it by me without using BIRDS to your advantage.”

The two boys continued to play, unaware of Naje and Sela's presence. Naje anxiously watched as she bit the inside of her lip. She had also heard tales of angered spirits and what they would do if they were spurred along far enough. She herself had never faced a spirit in combat but it was a battle she wondered if she would be able to win. Not that she was looking for a battle, of course. Still, curiosity seemed to get the better of her as she picked up a small peice of rubble and weighed it expertly in her palm.
If they were indeed spirits, then surely the rock would pass right through them and they would continue their odd spirit game undisturbed. And if they were not...well, what was impossible, wasn't it?
Thus with expert precision, she threw the rock at the waterbender boys head and ducked back behind a larger peice of rubble to avoid being seen by the spirits. She hitched her breath as she waited for a response or lack thereof.

“Did you use air bending. You did that didn’t you?”
"No..." he slapped his forehead, wondering how the teenager hadn't realized that crucial fact yet. "You have to use airbending to make it go fast," he laughed.
“OK your turn I guess. Well this is my strong suit DEFENCE just try and get it by me without using BIRDS to your advantage.”
The airbender looked down at the ground where the ball had landed. It floated up slowly, through the air, and landed in his hands. He used airbending to control it again and immediately he kicked it right through the airball field, at Sokka's goal.
Aang's mouth opened wide as he suddenly saw a rock heading straight for his friend's head. "Sokka! Watch out!" he warned him as both the airball and the rock flew towards him.

“HAH I’m not going to fall for that ” Just as he says that a rock comes out of no where and smacks him on the side of the head knocking him off the pole and onto his face as everyone around hears “TRIAHHHHHHCKAHHHH PFFFFFF”
Sokka rolls over to his back holding his head. “What was that!” Sokka jumps up giving Aang an odd look. He then looks over to the left. (Where the rock came from) and looks back to Aang “Did you do that?” he glares towards the Avatar.

Huffing her way up to the top edge of the ragged stone monolithic temple, Katara stared at the valley below. She’d never seen anything like this place with its craggily mountains standing majestically amidst the clouds yet sadly…..silent. Her large azure eyes scanned about the once simple sanctuary that she’d ventured into and noticed the overgrown vegetation sprouting from cracks within the fallen stones that now rested haphazardly against a previously sturdy wall.
She and Sokka had watched somewhat painfully as Aang meandered around his old home taking in the changes which a hundred years had brought about. During their search, they'd found some old fire nation uniforms beneath what had once been a table of some sort. The two siblings shared a knowing look before hastily shoving them quickly into one of the bags they used to carry their belongings.
"Hey! This is monk Gyatsu. He taught me everything!" Aang grinned as he made his way to an old dust covered statue.
Shifting about, Katara tilted her head to get a better look at the statue. She noted that the air bender’s chizeled image revealed a man of great age
“Wow and he looks like a uhhh nice guy” Sokka stumbled with words a bit not knowing what to say.
Katara nervously licked her lips, ‘I..I wonder what I should say? …It was horrible when mom died but…to loose everyone I’d ever known?’ Forcing the corners of her mouth upward, she added softly, “Yeah…he looks really ..I mean .. he must have been ..really smart.” ‘Smart!!! I can’t believe I just said that!!’ With pink cheeks, the young girl moved toward the back of the temple. “I ..I think I’ll look over here for a bit.”
'How can he stand to even walk here knowing that all his friends.. teachers are …gone? ' She thought while making her way toward a small back room. “At least I have Dad, Gran Gran and Sokka.” she whispered to herself before quickly glancing over her shoulder to give her brother a parting look for reassurance. The young girl then made her way toward a large intricate carving that was almost the spitting image of Aang’s friend Appa. Katara ran her forefinger over the rough image and stared in awe for she knew it took a great artist to create such a complicated and accurate likeness.
After meandering about the room for some time, the water bender went in search of the two boys. She had just reached the area where she’d left Aang and Sokka when the sound of falling gravel had her head jerking sharply to the right. 'Has that stupid fire bender found us again?'she wondered her eyes narrowing while her hand grasped the pouch that now rested against her right hip. Katara shook her head at being so easily frightened but still picked up her pace in search of the boys.
The brunette lifted her right hand to her forehead to block the sun’s glare before scanning the outer area . “I wonder where they’ve gone ?” she muttered while stepping carefully about what looked to have been a corral of some sort.
“Sooookkkkaaa!!“ Katara called out and then waited patiently for a reply. When none came, she grew concerned and hopped out closer to the edge to scream a bit louder.
"Aang!! Sokka!” This time her fear filled voice echoed about the cavernous walls
Then, like a small wave echoing back, she heard the two laughing somewhere off to her right. Turning the corner, she saw the two boys playing some game with what looked like a small round ball of air. Sokka was glaring past a grouping of tall round pillars at Aang. Rolling her eyes and placing her arms across her chest, “ Didn't you hear me calling? What are you two doing?”

"A rock just came out of no where and flew at your HEAD!" he yelled out in a confused tone. As he spoke he was pointing at his own head and making weird movements that could only have been him reinacting the whole scene. Aang jumped down from the pole and made his way over to Sokka to make sure he was okay.
“ Didn't you hear me calling? What are you two doing?”
He heard Katara calling out to them all of a sudden. "Oh. We were just playing airball!" he laughed. The airbender hopped up to the ledge that had been overlooking the airball field and he looked down at Sokka assuming he would follow.
By now he had completely forgotten about the rock and he was ready to explore more of the temple. "Come on," he grabbed the girl's wrist with both of his hands. Tugging her along as he excitedly walked towards a different area of the temple. It all seemed so different... the emptiness made him feel kind of sad, but what could he expect after being gone for a hundred years.
Aang let go of her with one of his hands. "That's where I used to sleep," he pointed to a seperate section of the building that was a little ways away. He started to pull her along again but he stopped suddenly when he thought he heard a noise. As if.... something or someone other than themselves... was in the temple.
