BAKA! Bugs. I hate bugs. Thought Kyouto. The young, colorful girl was gliding through the air on her father's glider. It seemed like ages ago when she left the Southern Water Tribe to follow the Avatar. He seemed to be riding on a Flying Bison, or so that's what it looked like. She knew this because of her father's stories, from his father. The Air Nomads were peaceful people. It was sad that that personality was lost in the traveling of her grandfather, then from there to her father, down to her. She acted nothing like them, and didn't embrace their traditions, mostly.
Kyouto was stubborn, and refused to give up the chase of the last Air Bender, or so everyone thought. Finally, Kyouto noticed that as soon as the group entered the Earth Kingdom, they went down for camp. Only now, did Kyouto realize, that the sun was setting, and it was getting dark outside. Deciding it would be best to get the Avatar off alone, instead of talking to everyone on the Bison's back, she flew down unevenly, landing with a huge thump not far from the newly set-up camp. Getting up, Kyouto walked slowly towards the camp, her orange-clothed AirBending staff in her hand, beating the ground with her feet.
Getting out of view, right behind a rock surrounding the camp, she waited until the Air Bender was nearest her, and made a loud PPsssssstttttt!!!! Surely this might get his attention. Waiting for a reaction, Kyouto standed, nervous. She had never meet another Air Bender besides her father, which he died a long time ago.

Everyone was helping to make camp and he decided that he'd be the one to gather the fire wood. A small laugh escaped his lips as he watched Sokka from the corner of his eye, attempting to unload their junk off of Appa. He didn't happen to notice what anyone else was doing as he walked away from their little campsite.
PPsssssstttttt!!!!
"Huh?" the airbender suddenly heard a strange sound coming from behind the rock. He turned around and looked back at the campsite to confirm that all of his friends were still over there. He counted each individual, they were all definitely setting up camp still. But, then... what had just made that noise? "It was probably just a rabbit worm or something," he thought to himself.
Aang walked a little slower and more quietly as he peered his head around the side of the large rock. "Ahh!" he jumped backwards as he yelled, but the others didn't hear him. "..Uhh... who are you?" he questioned the young girl as he scanned her from top to bottom. She looked about his age so he wasn't worried that she would attack them, but he couldn't help but wonder if she was a spy or something. A spy... for Zuko maybe?

Peering over the edge of the giant rock that was shielding her from view, Kyouto confirmed her plan, he definately heard her. "Ahh!" she heard, adn suddenly she saw a little bald boy stare at her with an arrow on his head and arms. AHH! screamed Kyouto at the same time. She didn't see him poke around the corner, so she was just as shocked to see him as he was her.
"..Uhh... who are you?" questioned the boy. He looked the same age as she was, so she knew he might be the Avatar. Ignoring his question, she peered at him questionately. A-are you the Avatar!!? She began to get excited. Sticking out her hand, she said, HI! I'm Kyouto. I know you might not believe me, but I'm an Air Bender too. I understand you've mastered Air Bending, so I.. want.. you.. to teach.. me..
Suddenly realizing how much information she just spit out to the boy, Kyouto slowed down, for fear he might panic. Starting again, with a deep breath, she said, Sorry. Let me start again. I'm Kyouto. I followed you here from the Southern Water Tribe, where I was taking shelter. Then she stopped, waiting for the info to sink in, and for a reply.

"A-are you the Avatar!!?"
He still wasn't used to seeing that reaction when people looked at him. To Aang, he just looked like any other Air Nomad, they had all recieved tatoos once they had mastered airbending. Being the Avatar was new to him as well, so he didn't really know what to tell people when they saw him. It was... weird. "I'm, uhh--"
"HI! I'm Kyouto. I know you might not believe me, but I'm an Air Bender too. I understand you've mastered Air Bending, so I.. want.. you.. to teach.. me..'
"A... an ... airbender!?!?" he practically screamed as he repeated the young girl's words. "I knew it!" he thought to himself. He just knew that he couldn't have been the last one, they were nomads afterall.
"Sorry. Let me start again. I'm Kyouto. I followed you here from the Southern Water Tribe, where I was taking shelter."
"My name is Aang," he said excitedly. His joy could hardly be contained, he was so happy that he had found another airbender. The boy poked her to make sure that she was real and when he found that she was, he spoke again. "Are you from.... one of the temples?" he hoped and hoped that at least one of the temples still had airbenders living in it. Maybe she could tell him!

"I'm, uhh--" studdered the boy. Kyouto frowned when he didn't answer. He was probably just shocked. Ignoring it, Kyouto went on. And at the sound of her being an air bender, the boy was so happy, it seemed like he could do backflips all around the campsite. As the young avatar introduced himself as Aang, Kyouto smiled, and was very happy as well. She had finally found him. Nearly jumping out of her long, colorfully stripped socks, Kyouto hugged Aang, and after a few seconds, what she had just done sunk it. She blushed wildly, and she withdrew, wishing she could shrink down into the dirt.
After a while, the boy asked her a single question she could not bare to tell him flat out. A sudden death-face came over her, and she said, I'm.. uh. My grandfather was. He came from the Northern Air Temple. He was a messenger. Kyouto didn't speak with much respect for her deceased grandfather. It's not like he was much of an Air Bender. But she could be now. And she could help Aang with.. stuff. There was probably a lot he didn't know. But something finally struck her.
Hey Aang. she said quietly. Why do you look my age? She had never really thought of it, but shouldn't he be like 112? According to her father, the avatar disappeared, thought to be killed by the Air Temple raidings. But she couldn't tell Aang that, and she wouldn't, unless he had to. It was her home just as much as it was his, and she couldn't bare to say it aloud again.

It seemed like she was excited to see another airbender also because she suddenly came out and hugged him. Aang noticed how embarrassed she was after realizing her actions, he rubbed his bald head nervously, not knowing what to say to make her feel better.
"I'm.. uh. My grandfather was. He came from the Northern Air Temple. He was a messenger."
"Oh, I'm from the Southern Temple but I've been there too," he said to the girl, realizing that she must not be from one of the temples after all. Her grandfather was, a hundred years ago, but she wasn't. The boy sighed quietly as his hope of there being Air Nomads at one of the temples was crushed again. It was still possible though... just because she wasn't from one, didn't mean that they weren't still there... He didn't stay depressed long, the simple fact that there was at least one other airbender alive made him want to leap for joy.
"Hey Aang. Why do you look my age?"
"Oh..." now he wished that he could just disappear. He still hated himself for being frozen in that iceberg for all of those years, meanwhile, letting the Fire Nation take over and wage war upon the other nations. "I was... there was this storm and..." he paused for a moment. "I was trapped... in an iceberg," Aang made a gesture back towards the camp. "But they found me," he finished.
His spirits rose back up again - every time when he realized that she was actually an airbender - he just couldn't stay upset. "Did you say you wanted me to teach you airbending?" the avatar questioned her as he thought back to her previous statement that he had been too excited to think about earlier.

Kyouto stood there, listening to his answers. "I was trapped... in an iceberg," Aang made a gesture back towards the camp. "But they found me." Kyouto smiled, and said, I bet that was cold. Kyouto paid special attention to her words, as to not bring up what happened while he was in there. Did you say you wanted me to teach you airbending? Nodding, Kyouto said, Please. My father, never got around to teaching me all of it before he went to the skies. Sorrow overwhelmed Kyouto as she remembered all the good times with her father, and how she just left her birth village to go to the Southern Water Tribe.
A tear rolled down her face as she looked up at Aang. So yes. I would love to train under you. If you can find time for me. Kyouto was still coming off of her mood from the flashbacks with her father. She was very calm, and rather.. sad.

"So yes. I would love to train under you. If you can find time for me."
"I don't see why not," the airbender smiled and shrugged as if it would be no trouble at all to teach her some airbending. He didn't see why he couldn't teach her airbending and learn the other elements at the same time. He could learn waterbending in the day... and teach her airbending at night, or something along those lines.
"I have to learn waterbending, but teaching you should be no problem," he grinned happily at her. Ever since Katara and Sokka had told him that all the Air Nomads were gone, he hadn't expected those words to come out of his mouth. As a matter of fact, he wasn't even sure if he'd be a good teacher. Aang wasn't sure what his other friends would think about his decision to train this airbender, but, it wasn't like they were rushing or anything. They'd be okay with it, wouldn't they?
Scanning his new friend up and down once more, he noticed the staff in her hand. It was extremely similar to his own, it must've been an antique, just as old as his glider was. He also noticed how dark the sky was becoming as the two conversed. The boy wondered if she had somewhere safe to sleep, but since she had followed them from the South Pole, the answer was probably a 'no'. After thinking about it for a moment, he came to the conclusion that it wouldn't hurt if she stayed at their camp with them. And he could introduce her to all of his friends! "You don't have anywhere to sleep, do you? You can stay with us for the night.. if you want," he didn't want to scare her off, he had actually found another airbender, he didn't want her to leave.

Joy filled Kyouto as Aang said, I don't see why not Really?!!?! the baffled young airbender said. She began jumping around, and suddenly wondered why Aang hadn't asked her to shown him she really was an air bender. Would you like proof I'm an airbender, Aang-sempai? asked the excited Kyouto.
I have to learn waterbending, but teaching you should be no problem, said Aang. Ok! Man, that must be cool. I want to learn water-bending. Is that possible? asked Kyouto. Was only the Avatar allowed to learn more than one element. Kyouto pondered this question, not paying attention when Aang asked her if she needed a place to sleep. Suddenly an ackweird feeling overwelmed Kyouto.
She felt as if she was intruding. She knew Aang was happy to see her, and she was him, but still. Asking to be taught, then intruding on their camp. She didn't think it was right. It's quiet fine, I'll be alright. She smiled at Aang in a warming way. Her orange skirt began to sway with the gentle wind that was picking up. The moon was shining brightly on the two.

"Would you like proof I'm an airbender, Aang-sempai?"
"Sure," the pre-teen answered as he backed up a little ways away from Kyouto, that way she would have some space to prove her bending. Even though he already believed her - since he was just that kind of person - he still wanted to see.
"Ok! Man, that must be cool. I want to learn water-bending. Is that possible?"
Aang's mouth formed an unsure expression on his face. Didn't everyone know? It was strange to find out that there was someone who didn't know the fact that only the Avatar could master all four elements. "Only the Avatar can," he answered her, wishing once more that he wasn't the Avatar. Sure, learning all the elements might be cool, but there were too many responsiblities along with it. "But you can still be a great airbender!" he said happily, hoping that she wouldn't be upset that she couldn't learn waterbending.
"It's quiet fine, I'll be alright."
"Are you sure? It might not... be safe to be alone," he warned her. The reason that he had said that, was because of Zuko. The prince who was following him. They hadn't seen him in a while, but he was probably close.

Sure, Aang said, and Kyouto smiled. Ok, she said, pondering what she should do to prove herself. Looking around, she decided to use what was close at hand, or in her hand. Twirling her staff slowly, it opened. Taking a firm hold on the side wings, Kyouto lifted up into the air. Unsure what to do, she unsteadily did a backflip in the air, and came to a sickening thud for a landing.
Oww.. she had landed mere feet away from her original starting position. As she gathered herself together, she heard Aang reply to her next question, Only the Avatar can. She seemed to bring him down with this question, and she felt bad. Glad he changed the subject, she nodded, with a huge smile on her face. She hadn't expected him to say yes to the water bending, so she wasn't hurt. As she politely refused Aang's offer to shelter, he answered with something that worried her. Are you sure? It might not... be safe to be alone.
This bothered her. Did he know something she didn't? Well, he probably knew a lot of things she didn't, starting with Air Bender. The reason she was here. Why? What do.. what do you think is out here Aang? Concern came into the young Air-Bender's eyes as she looked at her teacher.

"Oww.."
The airbender couldn't help it. Seeing Kyouto fall back down to the ground with a loud 'thump' made him smile with amusement. She needed more lessons than he thought she would. "Okay, I believe you," he laughed. It made him wonder how she had even followed them all that way, she must've used her glider but... she wasn't that good. He hoped though, that he could be a good teacher and help her to master the element just as he had so long ago.
"Why? What do.. what do you think is out here Aang?"
Aang could see that he had made the young airbender worried. "Well, it's just that the Prince of the Fire Nation has been chasing us..." he rolled his eyes at the thought of the firebender catching up with them once again. He was already sick of having to avoid Zuko constantly. "And I don't think he's gonna stop until he catches me..." he spoke with an unsure expression again. Another bad thing about being the Avatar; he was just a prize to some people, and that didn't seem right to him at all, though he tried not to think about that part so much.
The boy looked up at the moon. It was glowing brightly just as it usually did, and it was shining down on everything around the pair. ".... Have you ever seen an Air Temple?" he asked Kyouto suddenly, his attention was still on the moon. The Air Temples were his favorite places in the world, of course. But if one of the last airbenders still hadn't seen one, then he would have to fix that.

Well, it's just that the Prince of the Fire Nation has been chasing us... Aang said. At this, Kyouto gasped, but she wasn't that surprised. She had heard that he's been exiled, and going after the Avatar as a returning wasn't that surprising. And I don't think he's gonna stop until he catches me... Oh. That's bad. How long ago did he last attack you? asked Kyouto. The Prince wasn't someone who was going to give up after only a few attempts. If it had been awhile since his last attack, Kyouto was smart enough to realize the pattern. It would be anytime now.
And he might have seen her glide. She had not been that careful when she followed them for some reason. If he knew she was an Air Bender too, she might be a prize as well. Not good. But she'd rather them take her than Aang, the world has been plunged into a great depression, and therefore, needed Aang. Thinking over his offer, she nodded. I'd like to stay the night with you.. announced Kyouto. OH! But only if that offer still stands! She didn't want to intrude.

"Oh. That's bad. How long ago did he last attack you?"
The avatar thought about her question for a few seconds. "Umm... The Southern Air Temple. Yeah, and we haven't seen him since," he answered her just as the answer popped into his head. That made him think. Zuko would be back... soon. It was only a matter of time before they saw him again. And that was also the reason why he thought that it'd be better for her to stay at their campsite with them.
She didn't answer his question about if she'd ever seen an air temple. "I guess... she hasn't" he thought sadly. Or maybe it was a secret. But he doubted that. She had never seen one, she was an airbender, she had to see an air temple. It was like... a requirement, in order to be an air nomad. Well, at least Aang believed it to be.
"I'd like to stay the night with you.. OH! But only if that offer still stands!"
"Of course it does!" he practically cheered. "Now you get to meet my friends too!" he couldn't even show how happy he was that there was another airbender - other than himself - alive. It was so great. He was excited that his friends would get to know too. No one would expect this, not in a million years. "Okay, come on!" he was hardly able to contain his excitement. He wanted his friends to meet her... now! Aang reached out and grabbed one of her hands and began to pull her back towards the campsite.
