Alliance: Unaffiliated
Is He/She a Bender?: Firebender
Character's Name: Daizo AuYong, nicknamed Dai
Gender: Male
Age: 14
Height: 5'4''
Appearance:
The most striking feature about Daizo is his eyes. Large bright furious orbs of amber that mirror the sun both in color and shining brilliance. His eyebrows are somewhat thick and are angled in such a way that he always appears troubled even when nothing is wrong. His hair is a rich shade of jet black, full of luster and shine that hangs down freely, stopping at the base of his neck. Its cut short in the front, aside from long bangs that hang down over his forehead and eye line. Completely messy and unkempt, Dai usually allows his hair to hang freely as he dislikes doing anything with it. He stands at 5'5'' and weighing roughly 110lbs, Dai is on the tall and lanky side. Augmented with broad shoulders and developing muscles due to training, he's managed to hold on to an athletic build instead of looking scrawny. His long arms and legs as well as his build overall makes him appear older than a child of fourteen. On his left arm are horrible burn marks, from where he'd accidentally injured himself firebending as a small child. His borderline feminine "pretty boy" looks are part of the reason he was picked on so much as a little boy. Normally Dai can be seen wearing a burgundy jacket with his name in Kanji embroidered in bright yellow, taking up all of the backside. The jacket ties in front with a black belt around the waist. It also has a small hood on the back of it that's normally kept down. The jacket extends down about four inches down past the waist, and the entire outer edges of it, including the sleeves and hood, is trimmed with a rich vermilion orange. It fits loosely and was designed more to keep the wind off of Dai and maybe light protection from the rain, than anything else. Underneath that is a black sleeveless vest which lacks a collar, and with several highly decorative yellow buttons on the front. On the back is his family's emblem- a massive golden phoenix with its wings spread high, consumed in crimson flames with a vermilion sun as the background. Being that the vest itself is black, this contrasts quite brilliantly. Dai's pants are a dull maroon and hopelessly baggy that almost completely cover his black boots.
History: A legacy of greatness, the AuYong family continues to be one of the most wealthy and influential in the Fire Nation. Close to a hundred years ago, Dai's grandfather- a former general in the fire nation, took part in the invasion and eventual genocide of the Air Nomads under the rule of Fire Lord Sozin. This gained them honor and prestige within the country. Now fabulously wealthy, appearances were everything for this family. And they did have everything, except firebenders.
For hundreds of years nobody in the entire family was blessed with the ability to create and manipulate fire. Nonetheless they remained proud and strong. Sho AuYong was perhaps the most infamous man in this family. He was a retired admiral in the Fire Navy. Known for his colorful language, horrid temper, uncontrollable drinking, it seemed impossible that such a person could be of blue blood. He was raised along with fourteen bothers and sisters, half of which died before they ever reached adulthood. Despite all of this he was an extremely handsome man and never had any problems finding a woman.
Throughout the course of his life, Sho had four women- three of which he had married and divorced, and seven children by time he was 55. Daizo was the youngest. When he was born his mother, Keiko, was already 38. His only full-bood sister, opposed to six other half siblings scattered all over the world, was 16. The AuYong absolutely dispised Keiko. Her family was poor, small, and they firmly believed she was not good enough for Sho. Especially considering the fact that she had his child without them being married. As a baby he cried almost constantly. Sho would get into extremely loud, violent tirades with his mother and sister.
By the time he was four he'd already learned how his father felt about women. According to Sho, they were treacherous and loathsome- not to be trusted at all. He was horrible to Dai's mother and sister. As for Sho's other children, he never spoke to them. At age four he discovered his firebending abilities. The first time a jet of flames shot out from his fist, it surprised him. But he didn't stop there. he kept laughing and shooting more and more, playing with it and having marvelous fun. Until he miscalculated and blasted a small jet of fire onto his left arm by mistake.
Instantly he ran crying for his daddy, holding the spot and with water pouring from his eye-sockets. Sho took Dai in his arms and hugged him. He told his son how happy he was that he was a firebender, the first on in three generations. Sho stared deep into the damped face of his son and revealed the Dai was his favorite. Out of all the other children he had he proclaimed this little boy to be the one he loved best.
He told Daizo he was special. His sister overheard the conversation and took him aside that night. She revealed that Sho had once said the same thing to her when she was a little girl. That "he loves you when you're a kid. When you start to grow up, he'll treat you just like us." A while later Dai confronted his father about this, sat on his lap, and asked him if what his sister said was true. Sho merely looked at him and said- "I promise. You'll always be special." For the first part of his life, Daizo trained harder in firebending than anything else.
It seemed to be the only thing that he could do to bring a smile to Sho's face and get some form of praise for. A year later it came time for Dai to enter school. Suprisingly enough, he was quite popular. Though there was two things that made it slightly difficult for him. He had a much higher voice than many of the other boys his age. That and the burn marks on his left arm from when he first discovered firebending. Bullies would tease him often enough, saying he "talked like a girl". Despite this, he never fought back. He'd scream at them to stop and leave him alone, but the bullies would just laugh in his face. Finally he broke down and told his daddy about what was happening at school. Sho gave him a stern look and gave him a solid piece of advice that would stay with him for the rest of his life.
"If anyone messes with you, knock'em out! Fight back!"
One day the bullies were especially relentless, by now they knew Dai wouldn't do anything to them. They kept on with their usual verbal assault. When he snapped. One minute the boys were taunting him and laughing, the next minute- they were running away as quickly as they could, clothes and hair on fire, with Dai hot on their tails in an amazing display of raw firebending talent. Since then nobody messed with Dai, though he still kept training just in case. As years went by, slowly and slowly the relationship with his dad began to change.
Everyday his father would make him practice exceptionally complicated firebending moves and Dai wasn't allowed to stop or play until he got it right. He became more strict with his son. Started yelling at him more often for every mistake. By the time he was ten years old, Sho already determined that the boy was worthless. No matter how hard he tried, he couldn't live up to his father's expectations. Eventually it began to take a toll on his self-esteem. If his own father thought he was worthless, why would the other kids want anything to do with him? He stopped trying to make friends and slowly became antisocial with others- afraid to even try out of fear of being made fun of again or rejected. He played by himself and practiced firebending.
By the time he was twelve years old he'd become quite the firebender. That praise he longed for stopped coming. As time went on, Sho also became more violent with Keiko. She rarely spoke up for herself, or to anyone at all. She merely existed in Dai's life. Like a ghost. Regardless of this he loved her dearly. Eventually, even Keiko had enough of Sho. That's when it happened. One night she grabbed Dai, his sister had long since moved out by then, and left. For the next two years Keiko and Dai lived in near poverty. The money, the house, everything belonged to Sho and the AuYong. Everywhere that Keiko and Dai lived, Sho managed to find them.
He refused to accept the fact that she was leaving him. That's when she made up her mind. In order to finally be rid of this man she had to leave the Fire Nation altogether. That night her and Dai took Sho's old ship and proceeded to leave the islands behind. They were almost to the gates of Azulon before they were stopped. A second ship was right behind them, with Sho as the captain. Soon guards came and the two ships were boarded by troops. Quickly Keiko urged Daizo to escape in a small life raft in a lower compartment. He did so. Both Sho and Keiko were taken under arrest for attempting to flee the Fire Nation. When the AuYong were questioned Sho's family refused to vouch for his version of the story. They saw him as an embarrassment to the family that they were finally going to be rid off.
Both of Dai's parents were taken to the Boiling Rock for commandeering Fire Navy ships and attempting to flee the Fire Nation. Their combined bail was very high. The gates had lifted and Daizo sailed out unnoticed until he reached the outskirts of an island. He needed money. A place to stay. Food. And fast. Suddenly he began noticing wanted posters for various criminals plastered everywhere, each one with a reward. That's when he made up his mind. He would hunt down these criminals, and turn them in for money until he had enough to afford the bail of his parents. A bounty hunter, loyal to whomever pays the most.
Inventory: A large bag filled with wanted posters of various criminals. A red Fire Nation passport with the emblem of the AuYong family emblazoned on it in gold.
Personality: Unpredictable and quiet, hardly anyone is capable of understanding Dai. More than anything else, Dai loves to fight. The thrill of knocking heads with another gets his adrenaline pumping. Anything physical where he can unleash his boundless energy enthralls him to no end. He is extremely competitive. Everything is a contest with him and he can't stand to lose. Dai firmly believes he's the greatest firebender alive and will quickly be sure to correct anyone who disagrees.
He considers himself mature, despite the fact that he has an almost pathetically short fuse and is quick to anger. Dai has a tendency to look bored and disinterested in others, even when it isn't always the case. When done wrong by someone, Dai's time and attention is completely focused on revenge. A calm, calculated revenge that comes in stages and slowly continues until he is satisfied.
Over the years Daizo has slowly distanced himself from people his own age, so much so that he's become nearly antisocial around them. An invisible "bubble" around himself, a shield permanently erected, in which nobody but his closest friends can penetrate. This unintentional defense mechanism of being emotionally detached makes it so he can never be hurt again, by his father or anyone else. Because of this seemingly cold nature, he has few- if any- friends. Fiercely independent, Daizo hates asking anything of others or relying on their help. Above all he hates yelling, it drives him insane to the point where he can't take it anymore.
Strengths: Firebending is Daizo's one and only exceptional strength. By practicing exclusively on firebending ever since he discovered the ability, this alone outshines everything else he's learned.
Weaknesses: Daizo is nothing without his bending. It has been the only area he's trained in and honed perfectly, letting all of his other skills fall to the wayside unused and mostly forgotten. Were he ever placed in a situation where his firebending would be restricted, or impossible altogether, he'd be almost helpless.
Sample Roleplay: There were numerous adjectives that could accurately summize Dai's current state of mind. Aggravated, disgruntled, vexed, troubled, moody, anxious, the list could on. The most common one would clearly be: annoyed. Everything that met his eyes clearly told him he was in the wrong place. There was not a single streak of white in the endless abyss of blue that made up the sky and hovered silently above him. No signs of chaos or of a struggle anywhere in sight. No tournament going on in which gold would be distributed to the winner. Not even a hint of criminal activity anywhere in town.
The laughter of children echoed throughout the place and Daizo was greeted with warm smiles and open arms. From the moment he surveyed his surroundings he could already tell that coming here was a waste of time. He needed money and obviously here was not the best place to look. Firebending was his only skill. Unless someone was in dire need of having some food cooked and willing to pay in obscene amounts of gold for each item, his time would only be wasted. [/blockquote]

Welcome to the site!
Well.... Everything looks awesome, except for the fact that you say he can control lightning. I'm going to have to say no to that, although you can have him practice it, and learn it eventually. The only people that can join being able to control lightning, are Ozai, Iroh, and Azula. Okay?
So just fix that and you're accepted.

And we hope that you'll at least have some control over your character's temper. So he can at least interact with other people without always fighting.
