The humidity was unbearable this afternoon, Sekar noted to himself as he swept the burn ward halls. Tomo, and Motoko we're in the kitchen making rice for the patients that stayed at the clinic, while Sarumi was washing basins and bedpans with Yuka.
Sekar lit his pipe, stuffed with lemongrass, Fire Nation tobbacco called Yan Cao, and a few shavenings of ginger root. Sekar breathed out a cloud of hot smoke and walked down the wooden pathway to the examination rooms. It was a slow day for the doctor, hopefully something would pick up for Sekar.

Hiroto waved the two men who were annoyingly dogging his steps off to the side with a sharp flip of his wrist as he swept into the rather dingy medical facility. If the stickiness that clung all about them wasn’t irritating enough, he was unfortunate yet again to be inundated with young pups eager to serve in their desire to gain favor in their superior’s eyes. Sweeping the corner of his blood red cape back across his shoulder, the well toned man pushed into the entrance room where he found a few servants or perhaps healers….whichever, they were all the same to the upwardly mobile individual.
Dark coal eyes scanned the room and locked onto one of the worker’s gazing back at him while he swished water about what appeared to be a bedpan. The older man’s nose wrinkled in distaste but instead of smelling the putrid aroma of urine he caught a hint of lemongrass as he inhaled. “I want to speak with the doctor.” His tone was firm and clear. His eyes narrowed slightly to reflect his superiority to the men he believed far lower than even the two green soldiers standing behind him at attention. “Now.” he added sharply when neither of the two moved quickly enough to his order.

Sarumi and Yuka jumped back Yuka was going to scold him but Sarumi tugged her to find Sekar. "Lets not prod dragons Fox.." Yuka followed Sarumi our of the quarters and walked to find Sekar sweeping. "Master! That general is back!" Sekar sighed and put away his broom his feet stomping as he walked in to the room where Hiroto was waiting. Sekar was still smoking his pipe as he entered he bowed to the general and leaned next to the window looking to Sarumi to shut the door.
"We have the testing subjects ready?"

Half lowered lids watched the interplay between the scurrying aides and Sekar. The general answered with a simple lowering of his head. “They are being put in a separate area of the prison….One that will hold them securely until you can check them over and select those that would be best to study. The ship should arrive within the next two days. “ Hiroto paused to move a bit closer “Your special facility has been prepared including your personal housing arrangements. You will find, Doctor, that those who remain in my faithful service reap many fortunate benefits.”
His lips lifted ever the slightest. Not in a a friendly smile. No, it was more a reflection of a shrewd mind foretelling the benefits of his tactical maneuver. “I will visit you in a weeks time to see the…individuals you have chosen..and what you have learned. I’m sure you can accomplish that…can’t you Pragghi?” The military man said in a low quiet voice.

"Considered it done." Sekar snapped his fingers. Yuka appeared by his side. "Get my bags and three long scrolls." Yuka left Sekar's side and walked down to the hall she found Sekar's study and took two large satchels and walked back to where Sekar was waiting.
Sekar tugged on the goatee. "This won't take long, will need preferably a waterbender and an earthbender. I would need restrains for the the earthbender mostly. I will also need a fire bender and I will be the control. The experiments are going to be simple but they will provide you the data you need." Sekar said as Yuka gave him his bags. He smiled as he stood up to be taken to the facilites. "Are you sure you wouldn't like to participate for the great good?" He said with puckish grin. Motoko joined them "Doctor, I've asked Hao and Ma Ping to take over while you're gone." Good he said getting up. "Is Ma letting me barrow his thingyatoo-raven?" Motoko nodded. "Li Po's cage is ready." Sekar raised his hand. "Good," and turning to Hiroto. "Just for company, you know since I will be by myself.."

At hearing the Doctor’s confirmation, Hiroto prepared to leave when the two servants caught his attention as they began gathering up the necessities for Sekar’s important engagement. “ You can select them your self for I am sure my men will have quite a few …detained. Whichever ones you do not choose will be used as slaves of course. The Fire Nation does not waste anyone’s talent.” The bearded man said with glinting obsidian eyes.
“As to a fire bender….we have plenty to choose from of course..” Hiroto paused for a moment as a grin came to his face. “The passing from one generation to the next can come from a bending family but not necessarily be a bender themselves. There is a very impressive bender who has won quite a few tournaments. His name is Ignis. I don’t know exactly where the boy is at present but his sister is being cared for by a friend. Perhaps her participation might yield a thread to how he came to have such power and she did not? I will see that she is sent to the facility as well.”
The general paused to jerk his head at the two men standing like matched stone statues by either side of the door. “As to my participating…I am a bit too busy.” His lips thinned at the absurd notion. “But…I may have my son help you out when he returns with the prisoners. “
“Take whatever creature comforts you may need doctor.” The well toned military offical added as the door was held open for his departure. “I will call on you in a week to find out just what you have learned.” He said over his shoulder in dismissal for his order wasn’t to be questioned only obeyed. His feet fell heavily as he hastened out the door and on his way, two young soldiers quick following in his wake.
