History:
Iroh has had a slightly trouble past that has lead him to much insight and knowledge for those who seek him or are in the hands of fate to meet him. Iroh grew up as the son of Fire Lord Azulon and Fire Lady Ilah. He was to be the next crowned Fire Lord after his father's footsteps. Iroh had once taken a pilgrimage around the world to learn about its wonders and about the nature of Fire Bending. Tracing it to a civilization called the Sun Warriors, Iroh had confronted the tribe about the ancient art and learned a great deal from them. Fire was a sign of life to be cherished. Iroh was confronted by a task set forth by the Sun Warriors. The task at hand was to confront two dragons and prove yourself to be worthy of the knowledge of true Fire Bending.
Iroh calmly accepted and performed the ritual that the dragons corresponded themselves with. The twin dragons acknowledged Iroh as a person ready to accept the truth behind Fire Bending. He returned home to the Fire Nation and was celebrated for 'killing' the last dragons, however truth be told, Iroh had let the dragons live to continue their legacy with the Sun Warriors.
Upon his arrival back home, Iroh was given the title of Dragon and partially credits his nickname Dragon of the West. Iron was also a top General in the Fire Nation military and lead the assault against Ba Sing Se. His own son Lu Ten was participating in the siege as well. During this nearly never ending siege, General Iroh was on the verge of victory. Fire Nation forces had penetrated the outer wall of defenses and began to proceed inwards towards the city. News came to General Iroh that his son Lu Ten had been killed in combat. With such devastating news to Iroh, he gave up the siege and simply withdrew from their verge of victory. This defeat was seen as dishonor to Iroh and hurt the pride of such a member of the noble family.
Upon his return to the Fire Nation, Iroh had learned of his father's death which was shrouded in mystery. Even though Iroh was next in line to inherit the title of Fire Lord; Ozai, Iroh's brother, was appointed Fire Lord at the request of Fire Lord Azulon before death. Still devastated over the loss of his son, Iroh refused to even bother Ozai about how he had achieved his position of power, however kept his suspicions. Iroh later retired from the Fire Nation military, however kept his pride and dignity that he had earned with those he served with.
Iroh later respectfully served at his brother Ozai's war councils and was an adviser to the new Fire Lord. Zuko had spoken out against one of the Generals in the war room. As punishment, Zuko was ordered to fight in an Agni Kai against his father, Ozai. Iroh stood by and couldn't help but turn away from the even as he watched the young boy plead with his father. To no avail, Ozai scorched his own son's face, scarring him for life. Iron could not bear to watch such treatment of father and son. Zuko soon became exiled from the Fire Nation due to his insubordination and was sent to search for the Avatar. Iroh joined Zuko out of compassion for family. Zuko also reminded him of what it was like to have a son again.
Inventory: Order of the White Lotus Pai Sho piece and Rare Tea Leafs.
Personality: Iroh is a rather laid-back tea shop owner and retired Fire Nation General. He tends to enjoy relaxation and finding time to calmly analyze a situation or events that he had been reminded of. Time and patience is also a virtue of the wise man as he had enlightened himself throughout his life. Of course Iroh loves the occasional joke here and there. He quite consistently enjoys a good cup of tea, specifically that of rare tea leaves if he can ever get his hands on any. He loves his family that has stayed true to their values and helps guide such trouble hearts such as Zuko's in the right direction.
Strengths: Forgiving, Skilled Fire Bender, Wise.
Weaknesses: Too trusting, easily persuaded by pity, Passive.
Sample Roleplay:
It was a rather temperate day at the Jasmine Dragon as Iroh happily sat at his favorite table with a clay cup filled with one of his precious teas. Of course this tea was an import from the Earth Kingdom which he always managed to smuggle in undetected. A bit underhanded yes, however why should nations cease diplomacy and other peaceful acts of contribution? It was simply unthinkable for the Fire Nation to be in such a predicament. Bringing the small steaming cup up, the warm liquid swashed around the Tea owner's mouth.
Savoring the flavor, a small smile spread across the rather old face of the former Fire Nation General as he set the glass down and eyed the table. Glancing across the table, he noticed his set of Pai Sho pieces neatly organized and ready to play anyone who wished to. Of course it was early in the morning and only one or two people had wandered into his tea shop. They were his regulars which he enjoyed seeing as they also had a taste for Earth Kingdom teas. Without noticing, he watched as a Pai Sho piece dropped down upon the table. His eye caught it immediately and recognized it. A warm smile crossed his face as he looked up at the figure who stood by the table. "Ah, Piandao, I have not seen you my friend in quite a while. How have you faired these past few years?"
