Kyakou tapped the tip of the quill against the tip of the ink pot as he waited for the young boy to answer him. He was growing slightly impatient and wondered who the boy even was. He had an odd air around him...the way he carried himself, the way he talked. It was all just a bit strange to him to be honest. He didn't know how much time passed while he waited for the simple answer to his simple question. He glanced back up at the boy before him who seemed to be worrying about something. He could tell just by the body language. The boy definitely had something to hide. Nobody would forget their name.
"Water?" He asked while raising an eyebrow. Thinking for a moment, he reached around his side and underneath his haori before producing a small leather canteen. He took one of the clay cups that sat on his desk and looked into it for a moment. It had been long dry. Had it been that long since he had come down here? Must have been. He poured the ice cold contents into the glass before pushing the clay cup to the front of the desk to the boy. His eyes flickered to the bag the boy had with him. Perhaps...he had something in there. He shrugged the feeling away before looking back at the boy. "Anyways...your name and oh while we're on the subject, whats your reason for being here?" He would get the questions done as quickly as possible. He was hungry after all although he wouldn't be able to get too much for the amount he was paid. It was such a horrible life...he wished there was something else. That stupid girl from that long time ago screwed it all up for him.

The cross dresser shifted uncomfortably on the small wooden chair trying to come up with a believable story. The old piece of furniture rendered short annoying squeaks with every movement. ‘I’ve got it!!’ Avy chuckled within. ‘I’ll use Sinji’s name!!! He deserves to find himself in trouble for forever tormenting me..not to mention burning my hair with his fire bending two years ago…’
"Water?" Kyakou asked while raising an eyebrow. Caught in her thoughts, she jerked upright and followed his hand with some trepidation as it moved out of sight. ’ What is he reaching for? A weapon?’ she thought, her body tensing as it slipped beneath his black robe. Avelen slowly released the breath that she’d unknowingly been holding and her muscles relaxed a bit when the official pulled out a simple leather pouch.
Avy followed his every movement before leaning hesitantly forward to accept the clay cup which he’d pushed across the desk. Licking her lips in anticipation, the water bender carefully picked the cup up with her right hand, lifted it to her mouth and took a small sip. Aqua eyes peeked over the lip to meet the Official’s mossy green and she realized the way in which she was drinking was far too ‘girly’ especially when recalling the mannerisms of the island boys. The runaway quickly sucked air in atop the cool liquid and made a loud obnoxious slurping sound.
The water seemed to catch in her throat when she followed his perusal of the bag at her side. "Anyways...your name and oh while we're on the subject, what’s your reason for being here?"
Pulling the cup from her lips, she tried her best to appear relaxed and answered imitating Sinji’s thingy y attitude…or at least a poor imitation. ”Sinji. My names Sinji but my friends call me Ji. “ ‘Ahhhh…' she groaned inwardly hoping she hadn’t come off too bold. “I was just getting ready to board one of the ships this mornin' when this guy started talking to me.” ‘This is true...although ran into would be more accurate…’ Anyways, I guess he didn’t like my answers and he began yelling like a maniac. “ ‘ He sure did and got me into this stupid mess!!’ Giving a shrug, she leaned back in the chair and took another sip of water. "That’s when the guards came and picked me up while the fella who really caused the raucous took off across the pier.. I’m tellin’ ya. I didn’t do nothin’ wrong.” ’Mama always said sticking to the truth will keep problems from growing larger…well…I kept pretty close to the truth.’ She reflected while waiting anxiously in the heavy silence for the white haired boy to speak once again.

Kyakou watched with slight intensity as the boy took the glass hesitantly at first. The boy's body language was quite hard to decipher...almost random at times. It was very strange to watch someone act in such a way. Something was wrong...nobody acted like that normally. They were hiding something and he would find out what it was. He flinched slightly as he heard the boy slurp away at the contents of the clay cup. It almost made him cringe since it seemed like the boy once again had switched between two different body languages. It was as if he couldn't figure out which one he liked the most. This didn't mean you couldn't act a bit more civilized though could it?
He listened to the boy's slightly...exaggerated weight he placed on his words and sentences. Kyakou's eyes wandered from the boy's to the room around him and then to the bag that the stranger had. Perhaps a clue lied inside to tell him what this boy's purpose was. Kyakou nodded his white-haired head before looking at the bag again. "Your bag there..." He began pausing for a moment to write a few scribbles on the parchment. "May I see it?" He glanced up as he finished writing waiting for a response.

Avy’s apprehension grew as the two adversaries sat looking across the small desk at one another in complete silence. Her brows furrowed as she paid a bit more attention to his features. He was not very tall…yet his presence commanded attention. His white hair intrigued the inquisitive girl as she sat pondering its origin. ’Was he born with it like that or had a fright of some kind changed it?' A few of the classmates at school told her such tales yet since they’d made all sorts of stories up about her she rarely took their inane comments seriously. The most disturbing feature the young man bore were his emerald eyes for they made her feel as if he could see right into her mind and pluck the secrets that lay deeply buried.
Skittish due to his intense scrutiny, Avelen hastily raised the clay vessel to her lips just as the official refocused his attention on the one thing she’d been praying he would forget; the bulky linen sack by her side. "Your bag there..." He began pausing for a moment to write a few scribbles on the parchment. "May I see it?" He glanced up as he finished writing waiting for a response.
At his question she inhaled deeply, her mouth pressed against the rim of the cup forcing the water she’d intended to swallow to get caught in her airway bringing about a coughing fit. "Aaugh ..ahh ..“ she gasped while her aqua eyes teared from the pain. After a few minutes, the hacking turned into small throat clearing sounds. Unfortunately during the painful spasm, the rest of her water spilled down the front of Avy’s shirt and across her nut brown cape.
Jumping up from the chair, she placed the now empty mug on the desk, reached down to take the bottom edge of her cape and began rubbing the damp spot on her chest all the while pleading profusely, “Oh…‘Cough’ ..sorry ..I can be such a klutz sometimes. Guess I tried to drink too fast but I was really thirsty.” Avy cut short apologetic glances upward with each movement. “My bag? Sure sure…”
Turning away from his intense gaze, the cross dresser lifted the bag from the floor and haphazardly passed it across wood table. Much to her dismay, the bottom of her bow within the covering hit the ink bottle and sent the ebony liquid across the paper bringing a small squeal from the supposed ‘boy’ “Oh CINDERS!!! I didn’t mean to…it just..I was trying to give it to you and…” she rambled while the bag shifed about in her shaking hands.

[Oh this is going to be so much fun! Here we go, rebeled rich girl!] An Earth Bender?! gasped a villager as a crowd of people circled around the supposed victim. As this went on, the beautiful 11 year old Haku sat on the top of the fairly tall black gates into the Capital City of the Fire Nation. Being high up in the 'food chain', the young girl giggles. A gentle breeze sent her short kimono in a fit of wind. Jumping down from the gate, Haku ran in her tan sandles, which made clunking sounds, as they were tall and hallow. Making her way to a large building, having to do with nothing she cared about, Haku put on her cute, innocent face a lot of gaurds reconized. Haku was well known throughout the village for her skills in Fire Bending, and also her family's wealth. In a chibi-ish way, Haku held both arms, with nervous fists right below her chin. Yorokobaseru tasuke! She screamed at the guards. When she was little, she liked pretending to speak another language, doing all kinds of research. Now she could speak Japanese, and she did it when she was in grave need, or scared. Now she just did it to make others believe there was a crisis. Of course, the guards standing infront of the door understood her, and one of the two guards left towards the direction of the Earth Bender situation.
The other guard, forchunately for Haku, was weaker then she was, somehow. From her fingertip, a single blue spark flew from it. Sighing, she resorted to what she knew, and before the guard realized what was happening, he had been swiftly drop-kicked to the ground, knocked out, and had his keys stolen. Giggling in a soft, innocent way, Haku said, Thank you! Unlocking the door, she slipped in and ran towards the stair-well lit with torches. Oniisan! she whispered while she raced down the stairway. At the bottom, more guards awaited her.
She had a problem. Hardly believing she got this far, her heart was beating through her head. As she guards surrounded her, she frowned. Time to bust out her new move that she had been testing. It probably wouldn't deafeat them all, but it was worth a try. She had to see him. Dropping to the ground, threw dirt/sand into the air, and quickly fire-bended it. Secretly, she had added a speck of dymnamite grain to it, and it exploded. Taking cover with her arms over her head, all the other guards dropped to the ground, stunned.
Racing past the doorway into the hall, a huge disappointment struck her. Her best friend, who she considered to be her oniisan, wasn't here. As the guards started to get up, and race after her, she hid her face, and raced into a room. Slamming the door behind her, she breathed heavily, then turned to see there were people in the room. CRAP! she thought. Smiling innocently, Haku walked in, seeing no reason to be careful now. She would be caught anyways, unless they didn't squeal to the guards. The burnt pieces of her kimono were stained black, and she had dirt on her face. No one would reconize her to be the daughter of a huge, noble family. So she wasn't worried. Um... Hey.. she waved. They.. erm.. allowed me to come down here. But i got into a fight. I'm sorry!

Kyakou sat silently as he watched the boy take another drink from the glass that he had given him. He began coughing soo much that he lost the grip of the cup and spilled the rest of its contents onto his clothing. He raised an eyebrow slightly at the reaction from the boy. Normally he wouldn't have thought anything of it, however he seemed to have overreacted to such a minor accident. Something wasn't right about this boy and he would defiantly find out the problem. He watched as the boy took the bag he had inquired about earlier and dropped it across the table. The bag however slid while on the table knocking over the ink bottle, drenching the parchment in ink. Well...that was all the parchment he had, guess it he would have to memorize the answers now.
A small squeal uttered from the boy which caught Kyakou's attention immediately. His eyes flickered up from the bag and ink still seeping into the yellow paper as he stared for a moment. He dismissed the thought for a moment and began to dig around the bag. His eyes soon found a few strange objects. The first was an odd thing to find in a boy's bag. "A...dress?" He muttered producing it and setting it aside on the dry edge of the table. He dug around a bit more past the normal survival essentials until he found a bow. Pulling this out, he twirled it around his hand for a moment before placing it down as well. "Well now...it certainly doesn't seem like some things someone would carry...especially..." He paused for a moment as he brought his emerald eyes up to her. "for a...boy." He finished. Something was up now. Not even a parent would send out their son to pick up a dress for their sister or family member.
Just then as he was about to bring one more question to his mind, he heard the door to his small office crash open with a short figure entering. The voice was that of a young girl perhaps. He soon realized it was a girl as she waved energetically to the two of them. "Hmm, what might a girl like yourself be doing down here?" Kyakou stepped away from his desk to approach the young girl. Obviously she didn't seem like a threat, although it seemed the guards had tried to prevent her from entering.

Closing her eyes for a second, a pain filled expression on her face, the bender took a slow deep breath. She opened them to find the white haired boy holding the blue water tribe dress in his hands with a perplexed expression look on his face. "A...dress?" Kyakou muttered producing it and setting it aside on the dry edge of the table.
Avy opened her mouth to speak but couldn’t seem to force even one word from her lips. "Well now...it certainly doesn't seem like some things someone would carry...especially..." He paused for a moment as he brought his emerald eyes up to her. "for a...boy.
She began shifting from one foot to the other as he rooted around within the bag to finally pull out her intricately carved bow and set it down on the desk. “The..dr.dress. “ she started but had stopped for a second to clear her throat.”…it belongs to my…mother… I mean my mother’s friend…” she stumbled verbally to explain the existence of the feminine garment and the weapon when all of the sudden the door opened to find a small dark- haired child darting within. The cross dresser’s eyes widened as she watched the girl close the door, turn to face them and press her back to the door waving.
"Um... Hey.. They.. erm.. allowed me to come down here. But i got into a fight. I'm sorry!"
‘Who is this little one? Is she also in trouble?’ Avy pondered as she noted the girl’s soot covered face and singed kimono.
"Hmm, what might a girl like yourself be doing down here?" Kyakou stepped away from his desk to approach the young girl.
Suddenly a radical thought passed through her mind, and she swiftly pulled a coin from the leather pouch on her side. Avy swept past the official, to sink onto her knees before the small girl. “ Rieko!! What are you doing here? I told you to stay home…I promised that I’d come back !!”
While she spoke, the disguised young woman pressed a coin into the girl’s small soft hand. Avy looked over her shoulder up into the boy's pondering gaze. "My little sister. She didn't want me to go on the ship...sorry about this.." She finished and then held her breath ... aniously wondering how the child would react. Perhaps the two could help each other out of their mutually disastrous predicaments.

Haku had entered the scene just intime to see the 'boy' be questioned by a guard about a dress. Weird. It looked foreign, not of Fire Nation colors of design. Putting on her gentle face again, Haku walked slowly to the man, as he said, "Hmm, what might a girl like yourself be doing down here?" She regonized this white-haired guard, for shek new all the guards and captains, and such. Not to say she was good friends with them all, but she knew them, and they knew her. Suddenly panicing, Haku realized that if the man cleaned off her face, he might reconize her. Suddenly, like a soul sent from heaven, the young boy dropped to his knees infront of her, still reaching her face to face, and said, “ Rieko!! What are you doing here? I told you to stay home…I promised that I’d come back !!” He slipped a coin into her hand, below waiting for her reaction. It seemed everyone's attention in the room was on her, but sadly she was used to that. Obviously, he want's me to help him get out of her. I don't know. If my parent's find out I helped an arrested boy, they might think my loyality is slipping. Saying this all in her mind, Haku smirked. But when you didn't come home brother, I got worried. The guards didn't like it when I wanted to come and make sure you were alright! I saw them take you in here. But I got in, and now I'm here. Is mother's dress alright? Looking down, Haku finally realized she was wearing a necklace with the well-known crest of her family. CRAP! She thought. If the man notices, I'll be caught! In a dramatic sort of way, Haku put her hand over the crest around her neck while she waited for a response.[/size][/blockquote]

Kyakou tapped his sandal laden feett against the rather dusty ground waiting for the response from the young girl that hard barged in. A few thoughts flew back and forth around his mind before he heard the distinctive voice from the boy he was questioning broke the silence that hung slightly heavy in the air. It appeared that the two knew each other...or more or less were related in one way, shape, or form. They both seemed to fit into a family...their hair was of the same color and they perhaps resembled each other in some way. The two before him seemed to have a similar face as well which was a bit odd. Usually boys didn't have such soft skin. Perhaps they were of a noble class.
His eyes trailed to the little girl who had burst into the room. It seemed that the guards had let her in...reluctantly. This was strange as they were told not to let anyone down into the lower cells of the structure. Had they been drinking of sleeping again on the job? Kyakou let out a bit of a sigh as he drooped his shoulders. Sometimes he wondered why he even bothered trying to do work. Well...it did keep him alive for one thing and it did keep food if it was even just a little in his stomach. Speaking of which he was hungry. His stomach gave a low growl as he blushed slightly.
The girl seemed to be holding something to her chest. Perhaps a locket of some sort, although he didn't press the question in his mind any further. Moving away from the two, he returned over to the bag of the boy's belongings and continued looking around in it. Nothing else out of the ordinary, the boy's story seemed to check out, however the dress still bothered him. It wasn't a style he saw normally around the Fire Nation. Then of course his clothing wasn't seen that often either, although the dress seemed of a totally different pattern. Almost as if it was from another Nation.
"Where do you two live exactly? I'll escort you both home. I'm...done here." The question came as Kyakou walked around to check the damage on the parchment. Of course everything was ruined and he wouldn't get supplies for another week unless he bought it with the little money he had. Closing his eyes he felt a bit of a tear well up before it stopped. He was so tired of this life. Being looked down upon even though he held a rather high position, not being paid a full wage like others, given the most outlandish tasks. He wished there was a way he could change it all, however this was his life.

Avy’s hand was shaking ever so slightly as she pressed the coin into the young girl’s palm. ‘What do I do if she gives me away? ‘ Her heart pounded loudly in her ears while second’s moved like hours to the water bender whose fate now rested in the tiny hand she now held.
Then, much to the cross dresser’s surprise, the pre-teen said smoothly and with ease, “But when you didn't come home brother, I got worried. The guards didn't like it when I wanted to come and make sure you were alright! I saw them take you in here. But I got in, and now I'm here. Is mother's dress alright? “ Avaleen slowly released the anxious breath she’d unknowingly been holding and gave her co conspirator a small smile.
Her brows furrowed slightly when she noticed her sooty liberator reaching up to grab the token hanging around her neck. ’ What's she is trying to hide?’ The captive wondered. Acting like the older brother that she’d always wished for as a child, the ’boy’ stood up and took a protective stance in front of his ’sister’ only to wince when the official offered to escort them home.
A loud “NO!” burst forth from the runaway while she shook her head vigorously and continued in a shaky voice, “..I mean.. We don’t want to be a bother sir and I’ve already caused you enough wasted time with my klutziness.” she reasoned pointing to the inky mess. “I’ll just take ..” ‘Darn! What did I call her?’ “… my little sister home. “ ‘Great Avy …just great!! Think of something ..anything that will make him want to stay instead of coming with us!!‘ She looked down at the young girl in contemplation before her aqua eyes lit in excitement. ‘ A bath!! Right …most guys are put off by girly stuff like that..maybe just maybe!‘ Mimicking a low toned chuckle much like the boys on the island, she added “ It looks like she needs a bath. I’ll just hustle her home before my parents worry any further. “ Rotating her hand so that she now clasped the small hand tightly with in her own, Avy stared at her stuff lying on the desk top and asked somewhat hesitantly, “Ummm can I take my things? I’m thinking that I just might need my bow if that weird guy comes back and… my mom will be really ticked if I don’t have that dress.”

[[OOC: I have been given permission to move Haru through PM]]
Haru timidly cut a glance from the white haired enforcement officer and back to the young boy who’s soft hand now gently held her hand. ‘Wait!? Soft hand?' Co cking her head, the young child with smudges of soot on her nose and forehead gave her’ brother’ a long contemplative stare. ‘Hmmm ..he’s kinda skinny.’.. Haru gave a small shrug before slipping behind the teenage boy. ‘I think I’ll let this boy here keep the administrator’s attention cause I’ll get in big trouble with my parents if I’m taken home by a fire nation official!!‘ Letting her bottom lip shake ever so slightly and her huge chocolate eyes fill with tears, she turned in the white haired man’s direction.
“Please…let my brother take me home. I’m ‘fraid my Mom and Dad will be SOooo mad at me. “ The young fire bender had used her delicate looking appearance to her advantage numerous times and was hoping to sway the outcome of this little fiasco so that she could leave without her true identity being revealed.

Kyakou was taken a bit back at the boy's sudden outburst against his offer...or perhaps more or less his request. It was a little odd as he listened to the boy correct his rather odd outburst and seemed to be trying to...cover up something. Yes he would be letting them go, however he could still keep an eye on them. The stuttering and pauses also quirked the white-haired boy's attention. The boy seemed a bit nervous...something he hadn't picked up on before the little girl had arrived in the room. He glanced back at the girl as the boy mentioned her. She did seem like she had been out for a good amount of time and it had to be a bit on the late side.
"Well..." Kyakou started as he listened to the boy's proposal. "Alright, I'll let you take your little sis home, however just stay out of trouble alright?" Kyakou slowly sauntered back across to the desk and gathered up the 'evidence' from the bag and placed it back inside. The bow was first to be placed inside and then the dress. He stopped as he picked it up and examined it one more time. Clearly it wasn't something he was familiar with. He stood there for a moment almost in a day-dream like state before neatly folding it and placing it inside the bag. Tying the end with a swift not, Kyakou twirled the tie around one last time before grabbing the bag and bringing it back over to the boy.
"I'll at least escort you out of here." He extended his arm that held the bag towards the boy to accept before moving out the now semi-opened door. Glancing around he noticed a few of the doors closed and the incessant chatter coming from them on occasion. Every once and a while you could hear a bang on a table or door. It was something he was used to, however cringed at what could be going on in the other rooms. He was one of the more...lenient 'officer's...even though he wasn't even considered an officer. His name had been tarnished since that...incident so little ago. Shaking his spiky white hair for a moment, wanting to get rid of the memory, he slowly walked in front of the two as he took them up the circular steps once again to the main floor of the building. A few of the guards glanced at him and gave him their usual despicable stare. He had grown to know that nobody around his work liked him at all. They were all such strong patriots for their nation. It was almost unreal.
He tried not to look at any of the other officials as they exited the door at the top of the staircase. There were still only a handful of people in line waiting to get documents certified and what not. With a deep sigh, Kyakou pushed open the wooden door and squinted slightly at the sudden bright light. Had he been down in the dark that long? It really was messing up his regularity with sight in a way. Slowly sauntering out, hands in pockets, Kyakou slowly glanced around and noticed a few ships docked. Trader ships mostly, but a few privates ones were docked as well. "Hey you!" A voice bellowed out from behind them as they were only a few feet away from the building. Kyakou didn't even turn around to look, he was too preoccupied not wanting to think about any more trouble.

[[OOC: Avy given permission to move Kyakou via Chat. ]]
Avy’s damp hand squeezed the cherub’s a bit tighter to show appreciation for her outstanding performance. There was resounding silence ..well almost other than the child’s well placed sniffle. Swallowing hard, the cross dresser tried to control her nervousness while she waited for the official’s reply.
Finally, his baritone voice resonated thought the silence. “Well..." Kyakou started as he listened to the boy's proposal. "Alright, I'll let you take your little sis home, however just stay out of trouble alright?"
The water bender nearly laughed in relief but instead stared into her benefactor’s emerald eyes and gave a few vigorous nods in agreement. “I will sir.” The teen said solemnly before giving her little ‘sister’ a small smile at which time the white haired boy gathered up her personal items including her bow and placed them into the large coffee colored sack. Her breath caught when he paused to stare contemplatively at her mother’s blue dress. The pressure on her chest eased when the garment was gently folded and placed on the top with the rest of her gear. Then, much to her relief, the officer tied it shut with swift dexterous fingers.
The feel of rough fabric in her hands gave Avy a sense of contentment. Knowing that the things she’d valued most were safely back in her possession, she gave a small inaudible sigh of relief. The Fire nation guard dowsed her elation a bit by offering to escort them outside the building. After a few moments of contemplation, the runaway realized that it was probably for the best. She certainly didn’t want to be stopped by another guard who might not be as amiable.
With the bag slung over her right shoulder, Avelen held tight to the young girl’s hand and followed the serious faced young man out the door. The small triad slowly made their way down the long hallway. The cross dresser jerked to a stop when she heard a scream echo from behind and subtly quickened their pace. ‘What was that?’ she wondered while dragging her supposed sister closer yet still maintaining a significant distance between herself and their guide.
The water bender vowed to see the child safely returned home once they were free of this daunting place. “Tat, tat , tat.” Three sets of footsteps sounded off of the cold stone walls as they wove their way up the curved stairway ,through the growing crowd of citizens waiting to be seen and out of the guarded doors. Nothing smelled sweeter to the disguised girl than the salt scented ocean air which tossed dyed wisps of hair about her freckled cheeks. She flinched and pulled her hand up to cover her eyes as the sun’s rays danced across the brackish water.
To Avy‘s utter amazement, the ship that she‘d needed to board was just moving out of the harbor. Clear turquoise eyes glistened in excitement at the possibility of keeping her promise to her mother and escaping her father’s power hungry grasp. Her face fell as it moved slowly from the banks of the small port. ’It will leave without me!! Maybe this fellow will soon be on his way!’ She prayed while her feet fell one after the other following his lead. “We can find our own way from here. Thanks...” Avy said softly, her face revealing her true feelings for the first time since she'd begun this short exchange with the white haired boy. “I’m really grateful for your help.”
The runaway’s words were suddenly cut short as a voice shouted from behind them., “Hey you!!” Just as she began to turn towards the speaker, a huge ball of fire came racing toward the boy’s back. “Watch out!” Her far more feminine voice screamed. But hery cry came far too late for the flickering flame hit it’s target with extreme accuracy and sent the unknown target face first upon the wooden pier.
Shock ..confusion ..dismay ..anger and fear washed through the young girl all at once. Avy was not given even a moment to think ..to plan. Letting go of the child’s hand, she let her arms rise gracefully upward as they drew a huge wave forward to knock down the attackers. She gave the little girl a panicked look, “Run!! Get away from here fast!” The water bender lifted her hand and with a small pushing motion, formed a small wall that ran the whole length of the dock. She watched the small girl run to safety before breathing a sigh of relief.
Reaching down, she put her arms beneath the injured teen’s arms and pulled him tight to her chest. Then with a sweeping motion the water sank beneath their combined bodies and in a huge wave carried them off the quay. Avy, having no experience bending more than herself atop a wave, soon found them being pulled beneath the tide and far worse felt him slipping deeper below the surface. Using as much energy as she could muster, the girl formed a funnel that drew them below the ship and up on the other side where she had the liquid set them down upon one of the lower cargo decks.
Gasping heavily, she looked down at the soaked boy to find him his chest no longer rising and falling. “No!!..Mama..what do I do?” Totally exhausted, she laid her hands on his pale face and focused on pulling the water from his lungs. After a minute, water poured from his mouth and she heard him gasp for air.
A small smile touched her lips and she quickly looked about to see if they’d been noticed by any of the crewmembers. Finding the area clear, she dragged the boy down the small wooden deck to a small door. She struggled to get him through the narrow doorway and into what appeared to be a room filled with barrels and wooden crates. Avy’s lips pressed together in sympathy when she saw the burn on the boy’s back. Taking the greatest of care, she gently pulled his coat and underclothing back from the burn. ’Why? Why did they attack him? Me.. well me I can understand but…wasn’t he one of them?’ The boy gave a small moan as she worked and Avy ran a comforting hand down his arm. "Shhhh…it will be okay…it HAS to be okay!!”
The water bender hastily pulled the water from their cloths and hair and sent the liquid swirling above the wound with a circular movement of her hand. After a short time, his moaning quieted and the bubbled skin began to knit together. Unfortunately, the novice had used a great deal of her energy getting them to the ship. Over the next half hour, she fought to keep her eyes from slipping closed. “Can’t fall asleep Avy!!” she remonstrated. "Have to guard..and keep ..eye.. On…. his wound…”
No matter how she struggled, the young girl soon found herself slipping into an uneasy slumber. Unknown to Avy, the octy ink had washed from her hair causing her coppery tinted curls to now swirl about her face and shoulders as her head rolled back and forth against the wooden wall of the ship.

The pitter patter of his sandaled feet was dull against the now wooden plank ground as he looked around at the docking area he had set foot in. Taking a deep breath, his senses were filled with the salty sea air, something that almost made him gag slightly. He never really was one for traveling much, however his job required it. He was too caught up in his own thoughts to even hear the female voice yell out. Then, it hit him. An intense sting on his back. The fiery warmth of something large crashing into his backside. His eyes widened as he felt the impact and his face collide right into the wooden pier. His entire senses were blurred, all he could hear were muffled screams and pounding, oh the pounding. It felt as if his head was going to explode. The noises seemed to get louder and louder with each passing second. His back burned almost with the intensity of the sun. He couldn't move at all, he felt...like...then without further thought his consciousness slowly flickered away.
His senses came to life every now and then. Loud voices, the muffled splash of water and then silence for long periods of time. His eyes couldn't even open. Or perhaps to be more on target, he was afraid to open them a bit. It would be one of the first times in his life that he felt afraid again. After everything he had been through prior, now he felt scared. What was going on? He wanted to find out, but at the same time didn't want to. He felt the thoughts clash inside of him as the feeling of pain came back every so often. It made him groan in pain. It was a horrible feeling. His skin felt so hot and dry.
Kyakou's breathing was slow, however it was still steady. More feeling began to return to his body other than that of pain. He could feel the clothes on his body again, the hard floor of wood that he was probably still lying on. His emerald eyes flickered open slowly to notice the wooden exterior of a room. He was stunned for a moment as he winced at the pain on his back before realizing that he...was moving. Wait...he was on a ship? The next thing his eyes caught was the familiar clothes of the stranger he hauled in to his office only a few hours ago. Something was different this time as the boy's hair was no longer is dark black. It was more of an....auburn. His curiosity began to get the best of him as he slowly tried to rise which was quite a bad decision on his part.
"Unnngh." He moaned as the pain on his back surged through his body, forcing him to collapse to the ground once again. His hands slowly reached to his shoulder and removed the green sash that tied his sword to his back. The sash had been rubbing on his apparent wound now and he thought best to remove his sword for now. This...person didn't seem to mean him any harm. Upon further inspection through the pain, the face seemed a bit familiar yet different at the same time. The person that had apparently dragged him aboard the ship was restlessly sleeping, rocking their head back and forth upon the back of the wooden wall. The white-haired boy slowly raised a hand up to the face of the stranger and brushed away a bang from the stranger's face. His hands soon felt the skin at which he thought would be a bit more rough. It was rather smooth though, his head perked in one direction. Who was this anyways. "Errrgh..." He grunted as he felt the pain on his back again. What had happened? Did he get hit by a flaming arrow or something? His eyes glanced back to the stranger, hoping they would be awake. "Hey..." He whispered slowly in a soft voice. There was no response. "Hey!" His voice was a bit louder now.

“HEY YOU!” The cross dresser’s head jerked around in slow motion. Her elation at leaving the internment center was quickly dowsed for a man with long dark hair raised his hand and in a mere instant altered her fate. The young girl tossed her head back and forth as she fought the outcome of the dream. “No…can’t…why?….Why?” She mumbled softly. To outward appearances the teen appeared to be resting but within she was reliving the horror of facing one of her greatest fears: fire.
She watched in stunned amazement as the flickering shades of gold and orange soared toward the unsuspecting boy but it was the look on his face that haunted her. Pure emerald locked with hers in confusion and pain before falling forward into silence. It was strange …the lack of color other than that of the fire and his eyes yet it was in truth the emotions of the moment which surged within her subconscious mind.Seeking an understanding to an unexplainable event.
Dropping to her knees, she used what little upper body strength she had to pull him into her arms . “Avaleen, why are you saving the fire bender? You ‘re task was to go to your grandparent’s village. Leave him…he’s the enemy..” an unknown voice cried out over her shoulder and no matter how hard she focused, the face would not reveal itself.
“No…then I would be just like him….” The last of her words were mumbled aloud. “I'll never be like HIM!! NEVER!"
“Shhhh…Avy …it will be alright… just be true to yourself, my child.” the auburn haired girl smiled as her mother gently touched her cheek. The runaway’s lips rose slowly in reality but quickly faded to a frown when something drew her from her slumber…a soft voice calling out.. ”Hey.”
Tawny lashes fluttered before opening and closing as the teenage girl gradually awoke. Taking a deep breath of air, she made a small humming sound and found herself staring into familiar pain filled eyes. Avy’s body instantly stiffened and jerked back against the wood wall while she tried to regain her bearings. His pale face reaffirmed that her dream had been based in reality and now the latest problem on what was supposed to have been a simple journey.
The young girl quickly swung her feet beneath her and knelt before the rumpled young man. “Sorry..I ..must have fallen asleep.” Her slim fingers reached out to brush back a white spike of hair so that her hand could touch his forehead and along his cheek.
“You don’t have a fever.” she sighed in relief. “ But the burning must be terrible. “ The tone of her voice spoke of one who had shared in just such an experience. Pulling off her cloak, Avy laid it upon the hard floor. “I ..tried to move you enough to pull your sash free so that I could take off your sword but…I’m not really that strong…compared to other boys I mean.” she added uncomfortably to try and cover her small slip up. “Ummm…I can help with your wound…” the water bender started and unconsciously gnawed on her bottom lip for a moment before continuing. “…but it would be easier if we could get your clothing out of the way.” She finished in a rush while keeping her flushed cheeks hidden by reaching for the bag behind for her.
