Kyakou glanced once again up to the darkening sky as just one star began to pop out from the darkness. It was a beautiful sight to see when you weren't on the Fire Nation islands. Most of the torches and such obscured your vision of the heavens above. It was always something Kyakou liked to do, although only on rare occasions could he ever see the stars while on the islands. It was nice to see them gleaming again in the giant ocean above. His eyes soon wandered back down to Avelen who had been fiddling around with something, most likely the boxes around them. He soon noticed how close she was in front of him with a hand full of berries, and what seemed to be some dried and smoked meat. He graciously took the morsels of food and cupped his hand to form a small bowl for himself. He slowly popped a few of the berries into his mouth which tasted rather sweet. A small smile crept across his face at the flavor before he swallowed the precious food.
Her voice came a moment later after swallowing the berries he had already popped into his mouth. "Together? Alright." He smiled again as he tried the meat now. It was a little bit tough, but it still had some good flavor to it. Kyakou blinked his emerald eyes for a moment as he watched Avelen wander around to another box and reached down into it. It was rather funny but a relief as well that Avelen could act like...well...like herself he supposed now that they were a bit more comfortable with each other. He couldn't help but strain his neck to try to see what she was getting out of the crate.
His eyes soon laid upon a rather elegant jade tea set, well parts of it. There were probably a few more glasses and such, but they only needed two after all. His eyes caught a glance of Avelen as she sat the elegant pieces on their makeshift table. The white-haired boy couldn't help but blush slightly at her comment. Her pauses and searching for words made him laugh to himself on the inside. Now that he thought about it...this was perhaps just a little bit...romantic...his thoughts immediately were put to a halt. Shocking even himself about what he was thinking, his eyes grew larger for a moment before shaking his head slightly.
'No no...we just met. We're just...acquaintances...friends right now. We're not anything more right now...are we?' His thoughts raced slightly at the possibilities of what they were exactly. "Ummm...yeah we wouldn't want that to happen." His voice was low as he continued to dwell on his thoughts. His head switched to Avelen as she brought a small cask of water back to them, along with his sword which she laid down next to him. He had almost forgotten about it, however there it was, right by his side again. He brushed a hand along the sash for a moment. He slowly withdrew the blade from its sheath with ease, holding it in his hand for a moment to familiarize himself with it again. He could feel the warmth flowing through him...much better than last time. Now he knew he was at home. "Hey...I have an idea if you're a water bender. Float the water around my blade for a moment would you?" If she could just hover the water about it, he could heat his blade with a weak flame to warm the water.

Hearing his agreement to her proposal on working together to make the warmed beverage, the runaway leaned over the table to pick up the unprocessed dried leaves which had been wrapped in small red silk pouches. Avy waited anxiously as Kyakou sampled the food she’d found in the various crates and boxes within the hold. Her lips rose upward as he returned her smile before working diligently on grinding the tough meat between his teeth but her brows furrowed a bit when she saw him shaking his head.
“Is the meat too tough? I..I can soak it if you’d like..” she stuttered a bit before her teeth nabbed her lower lip in thoughtful contemplation.
At seeing his head shaking in negation, the water bender placed the tea leaves upon the make shift table and watched the young fire bender’s spring -green eyes brighten as he carefully ran his palm slowly down the teak stained scabbard. Avy swallowed hard when the shiny steel was released with the greatest of ease and skill. Even a novice such as herself could see the implement was something special to him…almost another appendage. While he seemed at ease with the exposed weapon, the auburn haired girl pulled back slightly, her aqua eyes widening.
The water bender could tell that the young man was feeling a bit more comfortable in his present environment with this sharp…no very sharp weapon in his tight fist. She gave a small nod at his suggestion to have her float the water about the narrow steel blade. “I can try…but ..um just as you are a bit weak in bending fire. Well I’ve had to teach myself to bend water and ..sometimes things go ..wrong.” she gave a long heavy sigh at revealing her ineptitude. For some reason, Avy didn’t want this boy in particular to know her faults…and not simply because it was embarrassing. No there was something more to the strange thoughts and feelings he brought to the surface whenever she was around him.
Licking her berry covered lips, the runaway took a deep breath and sweeping her forearm in a fluid small arc, the water from the small cask swirled upward like small snake. “OKay…here goes…Just be sure to hold it out kind of far so I don’t ..um scald you or anything.” she ended with a tiny groan. Weaving her two hands one over the other, the clear liquid began to rotate about the glistening metal. Avy’s face revealing her extremely focused attention on the task.

As Kyakou slowly studied the glistening blade in the low amount of light he had, he couldn't help but notice that his new companion seemed to be a bit...afraid of it. He felt his stomach churn slightly at the fact that she seemed to back away from him, although it was understandable. After all they had just met each other and who knew what the other person would do right? His eyes glanced over to her for a moment as he twirled it around his hand to get familiar with it again. It felt good to have that hilt in his hand again. "It doesn't bite." The white-haired boy chuckled a bit at her face. He didn't want her to feel so awkward around him, perhaps he could try to lighten the atmosphere a little bit more.
Now that he thought about it...they were both kind of...similar in a way. There was just more than the obvious similarities that he couldn't exactly find out. They were nagging at him, however he couldn't quite figure what they were. His eyes flickered to the water as it ran up gently across the blade of the sword in a watery snake-like fashion. It was something to behold for a moment, he had never seen water bending up so close. The sparkle of the water caught his glittering eye for a moment before he realized it was his turn. His emerald eyes flickered to Avelen who seemed incredibly focused on the task at hand. He inhaled a deep breath of salt filled air before letting it all out.
Keeping his grip as normal as he could. He concentrated on the blade just like he always had. Channel the chi into it as yourself. The sword...was an extension of himself, not just a tool. A faint red aura could be seen from th blade as the time slowly ticked by. The water began to slowly bubble which was a clear sign the heat was taking effect on the water. A small smile etched to the side of Kyakou's face as he watched the process take place. A few moments later and the water was beginning to steam. "Thats it..." He slowly lowered the blade to the small pot that lay upon their makeshift table. The liquid slowly slid down into the elegant pot as the steam slowly rose from the opening.
Kyakou let out a light sigh as he kicked up his sword's sheath with his foot and grabbing it in one hand. He gently sheathed the blade and set it alongside the wall behind them. Lowering himself to sitt back down on the wooden floor of the ship, he felt the slight tinge of pain from his back, although it didn't bother him as much as it had been. Taking the tea leaves, the white-haired boy took a few and placed them into the two cups that were laid upon the small box. Looking across the small table, he couldn't help but stare at Avelen's face for a bit. Albeit she was still semi-disguised, he still knew who she really was. Her eyes caught him for a second. They were so sparkling and marvelous. He soon shook his head as he realized he was starting to lose grip on reality. "Uh...right." He looked at the still steaming pot to try to get his attention elsewhere however he still wanted to look at the girl's face. Something about it captured him. Perhaps she was feeling similar? Maybe...but he felt his stomach tie up in a knot every time he wanted to ask her.

It was strange. As the blue and green eyes met across the glistening water wrapped blade, Avelen felt a strange connection. The task which they were performing reminded her of one of her most difficult dances whereby each partner had to shift and move together precisely in time to the music or the beauty was lost in its presentation. The water bender watched in awe as the blade began to glow a like an autumn sunset with the sun a gleaming ruby orb. “Ahhh..” she gasped aloud in delight as the liquid began to steam off the smoldering weapon. Avy gave Kyakou a wide smile, her excitement revealed in her shining turquoise eyes. When a bit of the water began to spill onto the floor due to her break in concentration, the young bender quickly refocused to send the steaming water into the dainty vessel.
As the last droplet splashed into the teapot, the runaway lowered her hands into a more relaxed position and sighed in unison with the handsome emerald eyed boy. Avy gave a small laugh and watched him kick the sword’s sheath up into his waiting grasp before encasing the weapon once more. ‘He moves with such grace..’ she thought while her eyes followed his slow descent to the weathered ship’s bottom.
Avelen’s countenance revealed her panic when he picked up the tea leaves and placed them into the small palm sized cups. “Oh..no ..let me please! “ she gushed while falling abruptly to her knees, her hand touching his as she reached across the table to pull the silk pouches from the cups. Avy inhaled sharply and swore that she felt a small shock as her fingers brushed his. Her abrupt action was an instinctive move on the young girl’s part for throughout her life she’d been trained for her future role as a concubine or game piece in her father’s plans to gain favor with the wealthy at court. Her petite hands took one of the bundles and carefully opened it. She promptly poured some of the leaves from their silk cases into one of the small bowl shaped cups.
Though her head was bent as she went about her task, Avy would peek up to glance over at the handsome young man from time to time, comforted yet struggling to understand the tumultuous emotions his presence had upon her. The sides of her bow shaped lips rose upward slightly in a secret smile as she recalled the lessons her mother had given her on the ridged form one was to present while preparing and serving the simple beverage.
“The ceremony is equally as important as the tea that you brew, Avelen. You see the bowl here?” Her mother lifted it and ran her forefinger with great reverence about the rim. “This represents the moon or Yin and the pot the Sun or Yang.” She could still remember her mother heaving a loud sigh when she found Avy’s chin resting in the palm of her hand while she stared dreamily out the windows wishing she was playing with her bow or dancing upon the water. A small tap on her back, had her sitting up strait and giving a serious nod. “Yes, Mum.”
“Avelen! You really must learn this! Your father…” The older woman’s voice as tinged with desperation. “..if you don’t he might send you away to the mainland to be trained. “
Fear filled eyes turned toward her mother, “I’m sorry Mum. I’ll learn I promise!! “
With a small smile and a slow nod, Kita continued, “That’s my girl! Now… you show me what you’ve learned from watching me, Avy…”
The memories faded as the water bender skillfully crushed the tiny leaves within the bowl. She used her forefinger to add just a tad of water in order to make a paste. While she worked, the irony of the symbolism behind the ancient tradition stirred within her mind. The fact that this very act had been continued for hundreds of years…and showed the combining powers of the Sun and Moon… Fire and water…Yin and Yang… Opposites which created the aromatic tea. Aqua eyes peered over toward Kyakou and she recognized that it had taken the power of a water bender and fire bender, opposites as well, to recreate this particular brew.
Finally, after adding the paste to the steaming water, Avy poured the reddish- brown liquid into the tiny cup. With precise and artful movements, she placed it before the young boy. She then leaned back on her haunches and bowed her head in respect as she’d been taught copious times, the fiery lights in her hair now shown as a beam of moonlight flickered into the darkening cargo space.

Kyakou jumped slightly as he heard the girl rush to stop him as he prepared the tea. He blinked for a moment in shock and confusion as she took over the minor task of preparing the tea. He had no idea what had come over Avelen, however sat there in slight amazement still as the girl went to work. The tea leaves fluttered down from their ornate pouches, gently resting inside of each ceramic cup. Folding his arms, he watched as Avelen delicately took the time and patience to prepare the tea. It was almost as if her life depended on it. He had only remembered seeing servants pay so much attention to detail. Had Avelen been running away from being such a person? She was so young though...probably his age. He couldn't fathom the thought at first.
The process seemed to take hours even though it was probably only a few minutes. The aroma of the crushed tea leaves could now be smelled as their scent floated into the air. To find such a beautiful scented tea like this was a rarity. He wondered exactly what else the ship was handling, although his emerald eyes fluttered back over towards Avelen. He watched as Avelen took the pot of steaming water and poured the cup before him full of the steaming liquid. He let the vapors sink into his lungs for a moment just wanting to revel in the relaxation. "It smells really good." He began to grab for the cup's handles, although stopped as he watched the girl give a small bow of her head. Once again slightly confused he stopped in his tracks and leaned over the table.
"Hey!" He poked Avelen on the forehead with his forefinger a few times. He was sure this would get her attention or get her out of her state of mind. Retracting his hand from across their 'table' he simply smiled for a moment. "You know we're not at a fancy restaurant or mansion right?" He wondered what had come over Avelen, although he wanted her to not be so uptight. It was as if she was reverting back to her lifestyle at her own home...and if that was the case, he didn't like it one bit. The white-haired boy let out a sigh for a moment before taking his cup, and gently brought it up to his lips.
Taking a small sip from the aromatic tea, he let the taste swish around his mouth for a moment before letting the liquid glide down his throat. It was a mixture that he had not tasted before. It was somewhat in between a few herbs as well as some spices. Certainly very tasty. The liquid was also quite smooth and silky allowing it to be fully savored. His eyes looked up as he noticed the source of light on the table. The moon's beams were showering their little alcove with the much needed light. He marveled at the glowing orb in the sky. He remembered that he heard Water Benders drew their power from the moon, although it never made much sense to him. The stars were finally peaking their way out from the dark blanket in the sky. It was something he loved to watch. The stars...captured his attention. His eyes flickered back and forth up at the sky in marvel before he soon realized he was getting carried away again.
Looking back to Avelen, his heart skipped a beat nearly. She was beautiful even though partially still in her disguise. Her figured seemed to glow with the radiance of the moon. Her eyes sparkled as well. He was speechless for a moment before he blinked his eyes and everything was gone. He still felt the butterflies in his stomach even though the aura from the girl had disappeared. "So...where is this ship headed exactly?" Kyakou took his cup again and cradled the warm cup in his hands. It felt comforting to talk to someone for once who wasn't going to yell at him or shun him.

Hands clasped loosely in her lap as was the custom, Avy smiled as he commented on the scent of the brew. It was always a compliment if the one being served enjoyed the simplest of elements such as the aroma which was brought about by the rigidly precise process. The water bender had been so caught up in the tenets of tradition that she was taken totally by surprise when a finger gently poked the middle of her forehead. Avelen instantly jerked her head upward and sucked in a large gulp of air in shock while a burning heat surged upward into her cheeks. Wide aqua eyes caught the easy going smile on the boy’s face as he teased about her servant like behavior.
“Ahhh…ohhh.. I…” she started with a short uneasy chuckle before lightly puckering her lips and slowly releasing the air she’d been holding. “Just …a habit I guess. Yeah…” Avy tucked a copper curl behind her right ear before leaning forward to pour some of the piquant liquid for herself. She lifted the delicate ceramic vessel and enjoyed the heat as it radiated from the hot surface onto her cupped hands. The brisk evening air spun the steam from their cups upward in dancing waves which wove together as they soared toward the starlit canopy.
Since her coffee colored cape lay on the ground and her jacket atop it as a pillow, the heat upon her fingertips and palm helped to bide the chill. Avy pulled the cup to her chin and blew air across the rim to cool the liquid while slowly inhaling the spicy vapor that now permeated their small hovel of crates and boxes.
As she waited for the liquid to cool, the water bender’s focused gaze, hidden by a smattering of bangs, focused on Kyakou. She watched as he drank the hot beverage and stared up into the moonlit sky that was filled with tiny dots of various sizes flickering like fairy bugs at dusk. Her eyes took in the simplest of nuances from his spiky hair which nearly glowed in the moonlight to his firm chin and the small smile on his lips as he peered into the night. Avy couldn’t pull her gaze away for his one feature above all that gleamed brightly even now in the dimness were his startlingly luminous and mesmerizing green eyes.
The water bender took a small sip tea and relished the tangy flavor. She’d been taking another mouthful while enjoying the quiet interlude, the only sound was the slapping waves and creaking boards of the shifting ship, when Kyakou’s head turned suddenly and caught her gawking. "So...where is this ship headed exactly?" His low voice vibrated through the silence.
Avy awkwardly swallowed the liquid in one gulp before licking her lips and waiting a second before replying, “It’s heading to the earth kingdom. Unfortunately, I’m not sure which city. I didn’t really hear the sailors mention that when I was …ummm sort of eavesdropping on the docks.” The young girl leaned back against one of the boxes and pulled her knees upward toward her chest to keep warm. “My mum tried to help with planning things out but…” she paused to give him a smirk. “…I’m learning that not everything goes the way you think it will…”
All of the events from being wrapped so tight that she could barely breathe, dying her hair…the man yelling at her on the dock to….being taken into custody and eventually bringing Kaykou onto the ship…none of it had been planned. Avy shook her head and added, “I’m guessing but …I think the temperature has gotten a lot colder. We may be nearly to the earth kingdom. I‘ve no idea since I‘ve never been off the island…ever. I did hear one of the men say that the ship would stay in port for two days dealing with some special cargo before heading toward the Southern water tribes. “
Running the small bit of azure cloth through her fingertips, the runaway let her eyes meet the white haired boys before lifting upward to gaze at the waning sphere. “That’s where I was heading…to the Southern tribes.” Avy couldn’t look at the young man as she continued for some reason the thought of leaving him brought forth an encompassing sadness. “ My grandparents are there..” She started and turned to give him a glance while raising the fabric upward. “This really was my mother’s dress. She wore it when she was a young girl…nearly my age. .” She nodded sadly, her throat tightening and she took a sip of tea before continuing. “A soldier from the fire nation took her from her home….her family. Everything that she‘d ever known and made her a…”
The young girl gave a small bitter laugh instead of revealing the name to which those on the island called Kita. “ We were planning to runaway together back to her homeland in a few months but…my father had other plans for me…” There was a silent uncomfortable pause and she leaned forward to refill her cup before taking her previous position. Shaking her head, she leaned her head against the wooden crate once more. “I have some money. Not much but …probably enough to find a place for us to stay for a couple of days. By then your wound should be well enough for you to…” Avy couldn’t seem to say the word ‘leave’. So she just shrugged and finished her second cup of tea; Drawing upon her special link with the moon to calm her spirit.

The white haired boy watched the girl before him fiddle with her own thoughts and actions for a moment, admitting that they were somewhat 'habits'. Perhaps he was right, although bringing up things back from her home might not be in either of their interests. It was clear that she was having a bit of a tough time adapting to everything. Nobody really liked change...people were afraid of it more than anything. Tapping a finger lightly against his cup full of tea, Kyakou sat there listening to the girl's story. Now she seemed to open up a bit more to him which was comforting. She trusted him more finally. He felt his shoulders relax a bit as he realized this. He didn't want her to feel any fear while around him even though he was from the Fire Nation. He didn't really have anything against anyone...probably because he was never 'educated' in the normal Fire Nation schools.
Now that Avelen had pointed it out, he just realized that the air was a bit more frigid than usual. The night probably accompanied the slow change in temperature. While he wasn't feeling any different, his companion probably felt the change the most. Looking over he noticed his white haori still lying on the ground, neatly folded from before. The girl did take care of things...even if she wasn't at home. He had to give her that much credit. Truth be told, Kyakou hadn't been to the Earth Kingdom that much, although he had only seen a few places. Of course not any of the really big cities, but the smaller ones that lay outside on the outskirts. Kyakou reached over the best he could as the pain in his back stung from time to time. He slowly brought over his haori to himself and rose up from his cross-legged position.
He continued to listen as he slowly wandered over to the side of Avelen. He couldn't help but feel his stomach churn every so often as he listened. He had heard the stories, however didn't think he would ever come across a person that was effected by the attack. "I'm sorry to hear that Avelen." His low voice could be heard with sorrow, something that he genuinely felt for the poor girl. He gently placed his white haori over the girl's shoulders due to the coming night air. It was the least he could do for his care taker. He crouched down to the wooden floor as it creaked beneath him before crossing his legs again. He hated to be the bearer of bad news but he had to tell her. "Didn't you know? Theres...nothing left down there..." His voice trailed off for a moment as he fiddled with the sash around his waist out of nervousness. He listened to her more as she elaborated on her plan.
Her voice trailed off later although which caught his attention. His eyes glanced to hers as he watched her finish her tea. "Well enough for me to what?" He asked as he blinked his emerald eyes for a moment. He paused for a moment before letting out a bit of a yawn. Covering his mouth slightly he took a deep breath before leaning up against the wooden wall. The crash of the water seemed to soothe him more than disturb his thoughts. "I think...we should get some rest. If you need me...don't be afraid to wake me up." He smiled one last time before closing his eyes and leaning his let out a bit of a sigh. Drifting off into his slumber, the last thing he remembered was the girl's face. Avelen was her name. Unbeknown to him, as he lay there fast asleep, his hand that had rested upon his lap had rolled off onto the girl's hand beside him. The morning quickly came for the two of them.
The white-haired boy soon blinked his eyes open to the bright rays of the morning sun. Rubbing his eyes with his left hand, he began to wake up. Blinking again, he looked over to his side to notice the girl sound asleep still. Looking down, he felt something on his hand that was warm...and soft. His eyes widened slightly as he realized their hands were joined together. When had this happened? He thought. He dared not remove his hand for fear of waking up the girl, although the sounds of approaching footsteps began to make him panic. They soon stopped as he heard a gruff voice yell out. The footsteps soon that were inching towards them soon stopped as they began echoing away from them again. Kyakou let out a deep sigh as he leaned his head back upon the wooden boards.

Avy stared at the moon, more relaxed than she’d been since the beginning of her journey. The tea had been a wonderful indulgence. One which brought back so many pleasant memories with her mother in the upper rooms as they planned and plotted their escape. Hearing a soft rustling at her side, the auburn haired girl lifted her head to find Kyakou standing above her with his white long robe clasped in his hands. She sat fearfully awaiting the handsome boy's scornful reply as to her mother’s position within fire nation society but instead his tone belayed an honest understanding of her plight. Avy sat wondering if his demeanor would change toward her now that he knew what she was. Would he look down at her in disgust as most of the island dwellers had done now that he knew she was the bastard child of a concubine?
The short silence had her gazing nervously down into her lap awaiting his reaction when the runaway felt a soft fabric being set across her shoulders. Kyakou’s caring gesture instantly took her breath away and she reached up to grasp the fabric tightly about her body. Avelen’s eyes followed the swordsman’s every movement as he lowered himself just to the left of her. The teen’s stomach fluttered while a tingling warmth swept through her body which she knew had not been merely brought about from the covering but also due to the handsome boy’s proximity. No sooner had the water bender been comforted by the kind act than his subsequent revelation sent a frosty chill down her back.
She gasped aloud in shock at hearing that her mother’s homeland….family…everyone….was gone. Time seemed to freeze as she sat with a stunned look of horror and disbelief upon her face. Her hands shook as so many questions raced through her mind but the realization of such loss had stolen her ability to speak. ‘They’re gone? All of them..my grandparents? What will I do now? How can I help free my mother without their help? I can’t go back there without help or my father will …no I can‘t!’
In the midst of her inner turmoil, the auburn haired young woman heard Kyakou quietly recommend that they should get some rest. She nodded and forced a small smile in return before staring upward at the beacon in the sky for guidance while she pondered her future. The plans of a lifetime had been washed away like a small shell upon the beach caught in an strong undertow. After quite some time, Avy peeked over to find the young man breathing peacefully in his sleep. She’d inched a bit closer to pull her cape from the floor and lay it ever so gently across his lap so that she wouldn’t wake him from his much needed sleep.
A brief smile came to her face as she noted one small shock of his white hair falling across his cheek. He looked …at peace. The edginess which she’d noted in that questioning room had been wiped away as he dreamed. 'I wonder what his life has been like? Are his parents like my father? He doesn't say much and I've probably said.....far too much.' “I hope your dreams are pleasant.” she whispered while her turbulent fears and concerns kept her eyes wide. Avelen had been glaring at the magnificent titan for abandoning her when she felt something fall onto her left palm. She looked down to find Kyakou’s hand laying atop hers.
The water bender waited for a few moments for him to pull it back. When it remained, her delicate fingers stroked the callused pads which earlier had brandished the sword with ease. ‘I should put it back up next to the other in his lap.’ she thought but the warmth eased her weary heart and overactive mind. ‘I’ll just hold his hand for a bit then place it back where it belongs…’ She promised while tightening her fingers around his hand. ‘Just a little while… so I know I’m not alone…all alone..’ Her eyes soon slipped lower upon her cheek while her breathing deepened in a pattern that almost kept rhythm with the sound of water brushing against the wooden ship.
Even within dreams, her fears pressed in upon the bender. She stood in the midst of a strange empty town. The young girl ran from one tent like structure to the next only to find them empty ..not even an animal revealed itself. “Alone….all alone…mmmm “ she wimpered aloud in her sleep. Suddenly, without realizing how it happened, she felt a tug on her hand as if someone was pulling her after them….
The dream bled into reality and she grasped the hand even tighter …”No..don’t leave me here alone..there gone …please..”

[OOC Sorry its short. Not much to work with. I thought you could get us off the ship if thats fine.]
Kyakou listened intently waiting until the only thing he heard was the low breathing of his companion next to him and the gentle crash of waves against the hull of the ship. He felt a sudden jolt from the ship. He realized that they must have made port somewhere, but the question was exactly that. Where? He glanced over to hear a mumble nearly, however the words were audible to him. The girl beside him seemed to have had a nightmare of some sort. He felt the grip on his hand tighten. The clammy hand squeezing his. His emerald eyes couldn't help but feel sorry for the poor girl. Was it something he said last night? Perhaps he shouldn't have told her that nothing was left in the South...but it might have been worse if she actually took the time to go down there and not find anything. That would be bigger disappointment in his opinion.
Gently placing the other hand on Avelen's shoulder. He nudged her slightly calling out to her. "Avelen...Avelen! Wake up!" He whispered to her not wanting to draw attention to any crew that might be nearby. He just then noticed the cloak that was on his lap. She must have laid it on him during the night. Avelen still had the white haori that he had draped over her before taking his rest. "I'm not going to leave you here." He whispered as he tried to nudge her awake. The footsteps were inching closer again. The white-haired boy hoped she would wake up in time so they could get off the ship.

Avy took a deep breath that upon exhaling became a soft humming sound as the gentle prodding had her eyes flickering open in confusion. She heard the slightly flustered tone in her companion’s voice before he added softly that he would not leave her on the ship. The water bender jerked upward while brushing the reddish brown curls from her face and quickly realized that her hand was still clasping tightly to Kyakou’s. She immediately released her grasp and her cheeks flushed a nice shade of rosy pink.
“Sorry..I..was goin' to .” The girl began while struggling to explain why she’d taken his hand into her own. It was at that moment that the ship lurched to the left and she slid into one of the nearby boxes. The sound of men hastening about above and outside the small door sent her panicked eyes to the fire bender‘s. Avy hurriedly took the the haori from around her neck and passed it to Kyakou . The cross dresser then pressed herself upward onto her feet. “ The ship must be in port…we have to leave!!” she whispered before hastily gathering her possessions together while the white haired boy slipped his coat back on; a grimace of pain revealed the cost of the hasty movement.
The runaway gently placed the pretty tea pot back in the box that she’d borrowed it from and gave a sad sigh …before her aqua eyes met Kyakou’s emerald green. “When I brought you on board..I tried to hold you above the water but you…slipped under and nearly drowned. I’m afraid if I try that it will happen again. I need more practice…” She drifted off while nibbling at her bottom lip. A few minutes later, the door creaked slowly open. The water bender grabbed the young man’s arm and dragged him behind a large box nearly twice their height.
“Where do you two think you’re going? Forget about the cargo delivery and get over here to help the other men bring our soldiers on board. Seems a few of the earth benders took out some of their ships and they need us to take them back to the fire nation! Well? Come on!!” A booming voice could be heard from quite some distance from the door.“ With a bit of mumbling, the metal door clanked blessedly closed.
Avy picked up her cloak and swung it about Kyakou’s shoulders. She nodded more to herself than at the young man as she noted that it would cover the majority of his robes. “You'll stick out a bit dressed like that….not to mention your hair.” Pulling the hood up, the coffee colored covering did quite well at hiding his rather unique locks.
“I’m still dressed in fire nation cloths so ….I’m thinking it might be best if we pretend to be one of the sailors. We could go down and help out but then just slip away? “

He watched with slightly fearful eyes as his companion slowly came back to reality. He relaxed ever so slightly at the fact that she had woken, however the ship's crew was starting to come alive now. She shot up from her position as he felt his arm get yanked upward as she moved. He glanced down at their hands and then into her shining eyes. He noticed her cheeks flush red and felt his own face do the same. He quickly let go, slightly embarrassed still and looked away for a moment to clear his throat. "Ahem..." It was dry and fake, trying to cover up the obvious uneasiness they had both felt. He listened as Avelen tried to explain something, perhaps how their hands had become joined.
"Uh...we can talk about that later..." His eyes shifted uneasily over to the sides as he heard more yelling and shuffling of feet on the ship's wooden floorboards. Kyakou felt the familiar fabric of his haori. He blinked for a few moments before swishing it across his back again. The auburn haired girl must have just realized that the ship had become docked and began to worry just as he had been. He felt the jolt of the ship as an anchor must have just dropped to the sea. Kyakou's emerald eyes followed the busy girl as she placed the small tea set they had 'borrowed' back into its respective box. He listened to her speak again about how she had saved him. A warm feeling came over him slightly which vanished quickly as he felt himself dragged to the side.
The white-haired boy kept quiet as he waited and looked over to Avelen to see what that was for. Apparently he didn't even hear the hinges of a wooden door creak open. He was glad she was paying attention at least or they might have been spotted. A short time later and the door closed with its metal hinges creaking slightly from the strain of the door. Kyakou let out a deep sigh as he felt a light piece of cloth fall over him. He glanced to his side to notice that Avelen had draped it across him, obviously hiding away his current clothing. He chuckled a bit at her comment about his clothes...after all he wore them merely to remember who he was and where he came from. His hair on the other hand was another story, perhaps something to tell later. He nodded simply as he looked around. biting a nail with his finger. "Ah, I have an idea." He shuffled over to a large wooden crate and cracked it open to reveal a number of fine pieces of home furnishings, including another tea set just like the one that they were using. Carefully taking each item out, he hid the contents in a dark corner of their small hiding spot before placing the lid firmly back onto the crate.
"We'll carry this out to make it look more legit. Besides...I wouldn't want to carry that heavy thing if we weren't even going to be able to use whats inside." He smiled slightly as he lifted one end of the crate as Avelen lifted the other. They slowly shuffled out of their once hiding spot and out onto the outer workings of the ship. Crew were busy hauling ropes of goods as well as taking care of other various chores on the merchant ship. Kyakou kept his breath held nearly the entire time they moved along, once almost bumping into a rather burly man who merely grunted before continuing on with his job. His heart had skipped a beat during that minor moment. The two eventually made their way down the ramp of the ship to the wooden docks that was beginning to fill with other figures. Fire Nation soldiers were pouring over towards the ship as Kyakou's eyes finally grasped what was going on. They were unloading the shipments as fast as possible and even dumping some of it to make room for soldiers returning from...where?
Kyakou and Avelen slowly walked past with the crate still in hand. His ears perked slightly at what was going on. "Yeah, they sure don't give up do they." One soldier complained as another listened. Another soldier, clearly an officer by his armor and other ornaments snorted slightly as he past the two. The soldiers that seemed to be taking their sweet time stiffened up and hastened their pace towards the ship. They were almost away from the dock, just a little more. "Just don't trip..." He whispered to Avelen as they began to make their way onto the slightly rocky ground.
