Zuko stopped spinning his swords at Ignis' Lapse in firebending. They were red hot. He watched Ignis as he stood back and bowed. Probably a muted I'm sorry Expression. Zuko tossed the two swords into the creek that had appeared before Zuko had arrived at the scene. The swords immediately sent of steam upwards into the air. Mai offered to help put out the fire.
"Just Leave..." Zuko said in a neutral tone. He lost everything in this town, his firebending, his quest for honor, his love... he was tired, hot and angry. He just wanted to rest, but... he wanted to help douse the flame of this fire. He spotted his remaining soldiers heading to the retreating fire nation ships as the Earth Kingdom Local Garrison was pushing them back. He hoped his Uncle was alright.

No emotion showed plain on Mais face, though she felt as if she were screaming on the inside. Becoming this numb, this empty creature, a shell of a young girl once knew - had become her. Though she felt the numbness, the horrid loneliness of being stranded in her own mind - she knew she may never return. That's what her insane mother had done to her, for her own comfort, her own happiness with her political father. Made her somebody, something, that she never was supposed to be.
"You must not know me very well if you think I'm going to do what you say, Zuko." Mai stated, her voice detached and emotionless though the empty sound almost sounded cold, though it wasn't intended in the slightest. Mai crossed her arms over her ribs, leaning onto one foot as she just watched him. He was so much older, so much more different in ways unimaginable, that it was almost hard for her to wrap her mind around it.
Yes, she had loved Zuko since day one... ever since they were little kids. Even though he never seemed to pay much attention to her, it always seemed just to be the thought of him, that one little hello said last week would mean more to her than any insult delivered by her own mother.

Just as Zuko threw his glowing red blades into the small culvert which the earth bender had made, Katara turned to Ignis as he apologized first to Mai and then herself. It was in his eyes. The film of rage and insanity was gone and his clear gold orbs now revealed the truth of his sorrow… Katara looked down at the hands which clasped her and gave him a small squeeze. As he asked them to keep his aide with the fires a secret, she nodded and spoke softly, “We won’t tell Ignis…but you will know that you did the right thing. You can’t undo what has taken place but you can change the path you walk. I’ve learned that from Aang. Every day is a new day…and a new chance to change ourselves.”
It was the flat yet firm tone in Zuko‘s voice that had her eyes shifting back to the angry prince. She saw his eyes locked onto Mai as he told the two to leave. “Zuko..” the water bender began but by his rigid body she could tell he did not want to talk, least of all to her. The tension grew between the two even if the other girl kept her face devoid of feeling, they all could sense it.
"You must not know me very well if you think I'm going to do what you say, Zuko." Mai stated, her voice detached and emotionless.
The words were spoken almost as a challenge and it was easy to see by their behavior that the two knew each other quite well. A variance of cries broke the silence and the brunette jerked her head to find a small group of people fighting a house fire. One was a boy who couldn't have been more than nine. Katara gave Zuko an uncomfortable look before glancing to the others and then back to his rigid glare. “Zuko…I…Thanks.” A small word but the fact she’d even said it to a fire bender let alone the prince who’d been dodging their every step seemed surreal to the young girl. The two had come to terms of a sort today. Not that she really understood what had transpired but she would have to think on it later for she needed to find Aang and her brother. Giving o Ignis and Mai a parting glance, she said firmly. ”Please …keep your word.”
Katara spun about and with a fluid movement pulled the water from the culvert about her body. Taking quick decisive steps , she began whipping the water at the flames while calling out to the small boy, “Get back!!”

"Just Leave..." The banished prince had told Ignis. Ignis didn't say a word to him, he just gave Zuko a glare similiar to Mai's. "You must not know me very well if you think I'm going to do what you say, Zuko." Mai had said. Ignis listened to her cold, emotionless words to Zuko. Mai sounded like when they both first met. Ignis wasn't that sure why she was like this really. Was it because of Ignis? Was it because of Katara? Because of Zuko? The destruction around everyone?
“We won’t tell Ignis…but you will know that you did the right thing. You can’t undo what has taken place but you can change the path you walk. I’ve learned that from Aang. Every day is a new day…and a new chance to change ourselves.” Katara said. Katara, the girl who seemed to trust Ignis before all of this destruction and chaos. Ignis looked up at Katara and gave her a weak smile. "Thank you Katara..I owe you a lot for not turning me in or attacking us in retalliation." Ignis said clasping his hands together once more, only briefer.
Ignis breathed in deeply then out. Ignis got into his firebending stance. The stance he was similiar to the one used to redirect lightning. The fire around him turned to steam and went smaller and smaller as they were 'sucked' into Ignis' fingers. Ignis stepped foward out of the alley. A massive cloud of fire was in front of Ignis. Devouring houses and swallowing up dead bodies in it's fiery embrace. Ignis turned the whole fire to steam and absorbed it. Ignis fell to his knees from absorbing that much fire. His throat and stomach were burning up. Then suddenly a 'collar' of earth hit Ignis throat. The collar slammed Ignis into a wall as it connected to it. Six Earth Kingdom soldiers surrounded Ignis in their earthbending stance, as they bound his and feet with earth. Ignis merely smirked at them.

Zuko smiled at Mai's words... A smile that couldn't be seen by anyone... so small a crease in his lips. He watched Katara run off and saw Ignis' firebending to absorb the flames. He then saw Ignis getting trapped by six Earth Kingdom soldiers. Zuko picked up his now cool swords and sheathed them.
"Why do you focus on the peasant? When you bask in the glory of the banished prince... heir to the throne." Zuko said as he removed his bandanna revealing his scar. He then turned and ran at him. Five of the Six soldiers followed him. The sixth hesitated... looking at Ignis.

Zuko had been running through the streets for a while now, He had lost the soldiers and replaced his headband and walked into the ashen fields, in which he faced Ken. He picked up a clump of burned grain, He put it into a pouch and ran off into the forest. He felt like he had done something constructive. Something that wasn't... totally wrong. He would change... he had to change.

”Please …keep your word.” Mai gave a sharp little nod to Katara before she turned away again. She watched the events unfold, Zuko running away, Ignis absorbing the fire. Mai walked slowly up to where Ignis was pinned against the wall, gently breaking apart the earth with a blade in half a second, sighing slightly and replacing the blade in her kimono.Ignis was free now, and Mai gave him the smallest of weak smiles, turning and looking at the horizon from where she came. "We better leave, now. More soldiers are coming soon. It isn't safe to remain here." Mai turned again and started heading down the path, her black hair swishing gently behind her.
Before she'd had a chance to react, more Earth Kingdom soldiers started to pour out in front of her. There was at least eight - and they all started attack, all at once. Blocks of rock whizzed past her, and Mai dodged most of them, starting to sweep her arm to the left, blades coming loose and flying at them. As soon as they were distracted, just a millisecond of their eyes unfixing, Mai was there. She quickly maneuvered her way through the soldiers, attacking them from the behind, pinning some against the wall with her blades, others ran as some were pinned to the wall. All the chaos had only taken place in five seconds or so, and then it was silent, Mai standing in the middle of the soldiers, alone and looking very innocent, even after all of the men she had pinned. Mai heard more footsteps running back, and looked over to Ignis.
"Don't firebend. Just use your hands and try not to kill anyone." Mai told Ignis over her shoulder, darting off to the running footsteps, focusing more on getting back rather than where Katara, Ignis, or Zuko had went.

Ignis gave a nod to Zuko as a sign on thanks before he ran off. Ignis then felt his earth bindings being broken by Mai. "Thanks." Ignis said in a neutral tone. Ignis felt his wrists which were red from the preasure of the dirty, tough and hard earth. Then suddenly more troops appeared. "We better leave, now. More soldiers are coming soon. It isn't safe to remain here." Mai said. Ignis nodded in compliance. Ignis got into a firebending stance ready to defeat them all with ease.
Mai, sweet Mai, had already defeated most of them. But soon a handfull more appeared. It would be a miracle if Mai would still be with Ignis after all of this. "Don't firebend. Just use your hands and try not to kill anyone." Mai said, barely looking at him. Ignis didn't reply. It would be impossible to defeat the five Earth Kingdom soldiers without weapons or bending. Before Ignis could follow Mai, a hail of earth bullets fired at Ignis. Like machine guns they were mowing weak earth, hay and wood down with ease. Ignis barrel rolled into one of the burning houses for safety. The bullets stopped. Ignis peaked outside but suddenly an earth bullet hit his arm.
Ignis screamed in pain at his bleeding arm. "That's it...I tried Mai's way..." Ignis said before getting up. Using the stored fire, he created a wall of fire which halted and incinerated bullets that hit the fire wall. Ignis walked closer, the soldiers bullets invane. Ignis fired the wall at the four of the soldiers, distracting them. Then Ignis quickly ducked and jumped behind the spare soldier. Ignis, quickly held his hands behind his back, and held one of Mai's dropped knifes to his throat. "Come any closer and I'll kill him!" Ignis shouted, the soldier powerless to do anything without being killed. The soldiers didn't do anything. But the Captain grew furious and he shot several earth bullets at the soldier killing him instantly.
The other soldiers know shot too, knowing that he was already dead. Ignis used the dead soldier as a shield as he took all the bullets. Ignis threw the body at three of the soldiers, distracting them. While they were distracted, Ignis used a fire dagger to stab they're throats quickly killing them. Ignis, used a sash, and tied the Captain's arms behind his back as he held the blade to his throat. "Now, just stay my little hostage for 10 miniutes and you'll be fine." Ignis said pushing him foward, through the ash ridden and burnt forest. Ignis arrived at his Skiff with his belongings, Zuko soldiers were still paralysed. Ignis then took all of the Captain's scrolls of information and took all his money. "Well you were usefull." Ignis said before, injecting him with the neutralising fluid. The Captain then fell unconciouss, slumping on top of one of Zuko's paralyzed soldiers.
Ignis got on Zuko skiff and started it up as it floated above the water. Ignis would use the skiff to make his way back to the Fire Nation. Ignis looked up at the blood red sky and the smoke in the distance of the destruction he had caused. It would take at least ten or fifthteen miniutes for the skiff to get out of the forest's lake.

The old insightful man stood in the center of the chaos that still burned around him. He simply shook his head as he folded his arms inside his own sleeves. The smell was something he knew of without a doubt. The familiar scent of destruction. This wasn't what should be going on at all. His eyes opened again to realize that Prince Zuko had gone missing in a flash of an eye. The brash boy never really listened to him well when he was in one of his...'moods'. The young boy would learn values and discipline over time, although time wasn't exactly something that was on their side all the time or any of the time for that matter.
Iroh slowly plodded along as he noticed a small flower that was sprouted out of the ground. His eyes glistened for a moment as he moved over to pluck it up from the destruction that burned around him. He cradled the small precious piece of life in his hands before tucking it away inside his vest. He would make sure to take care of it later. His eyes glanced over to notice another figure emerge in his vision. A small one at that, although he immediately recognized it. The long hunted Avatar that Prince Zuko required so badly to restore his honor had arrived.
"Ah, the Avatar. It is an honor to meet you again." Iroh smiled slightly as he gave a deep bow before the 'young' boy. Raising his top half back up, a puzzled face had crossed the old man's wrinkles. "What might you be doing here at such a place? I had surely expected you to be...running from Prince Zuko." Iroh contained a light chuckle at the slight irony of their meet up.

"Ah, the Avatar. It is an honor to meet you again."
Clearly this old man was much nicer than his hot-headed nephew. Aang respectfully bowed in response to Iroh's bow. He wondered why Zuko was so different than his uncle, he would have thought that the old man could've gotten through to him, but for some reason, he had not.
"What might you be doing here at such a place? I had surely expected you to be...running from Prince Zuko."
"... I don't know. He disappeared and so did Katara," he said with a worried expression. The monk had no idea what was happening to his friends right now, they could be hurt... Katara could be hurt. He looked around as he payed attention to what was happening to the village. Most of it was on fire and there was just so much fighting going on. The boy almost felt like crying, but instead all he did was sigh. "This is my fault..." he said quietly.

Katara no sooner put the fire out near the young boy than another flared to life. She saw Ignis pull some of the flaming energy into his body and putting out the burning home just to his left. While she continued to dowse the flames about her, she heard a strange thudding sound behind her. The water bender spun about to find the fire bender pinned to the wall by a collar of stone. Once again she saw his eyes flare and he began thowing fire at the earth benders.
She’d heard Mai earlier begging Ignis to use other means than his firebending but it was obvious his patience had grown thin and he was using the easiest means to face his assailants. “No!! Ignis!!” Katara called out while Zuko said something to the men who were attacking before running away from them down the already demolished street. Swinging her gaze back, the brunette saw the bending champ racing off toward the pier while Mai covered his retreat. She was fiercely engaged in battle with two men when an earth bender released a large stone at the unsuspecting knife thrower’s back. Kataral spun abut her hands rotating quickly and with a forward lunge sent a large ball of water to redirect its course.
The piece of granite fell a mere foot from the warrior. In that moment, azure eyes met chocolate and respect was clearly imparted in that glance. The water bender noted throughout the whole engagement that Mai had been working extremely hard to keep her word and now so would she. ‘GO!! Hurry!’ Katara mouthed while the iridescent liquid swirled about like a twister keeping the others from advancing.

Iroh watched with sparkling eyes as the Avatar returned the gesture in kind. It was wonderful to be able to be a bit more civil towards someone for once. Not that he didn't try more often, however in the current state of affairs, it wasn't something that could happen all the time. Iroh wished affairs could be resolved with diplomacy over violence now. Even though he had been a General of the Fire Nation Military...things were a little different back then. He still however wished what had happened so long ago could have been changed. The devastating loss he had endured for so long. How much he wished Zuko would be able to change in some way.
"I see. Young Zuko is always on the move." The old man smiled slightly for a moment before his face had turned quite solemn again. The 'boy' seemd quite concerned as to what had happened. He even raised a gray eyebrow to the boy's guilt. "If there is anyone to blame, please blame Prince Zuko and I for bringing this tragedy here. I will gladly atone for the chaos that has ensued here, however...you as the Avatar must rise above the chaos and show people the hope. There is little left now and what is left must be held on to as a precious gift, almost like a beautiful flower." Iroh's eyes glistened as he withdrew a small pai sho piece from his top. The symbol of the White Lotus was just one piece of hope.
